Okay, so I'm thinking of making a fighting RPG. But not just any: fighting RPG forum. And along the way, I'm going to adress some things.
So, in this RPG Forum, there will be a plot. Fighting can happen in or outside a/the tournament. During these fights, there will be astandard which randomization (keep reading) occurs. ANd by Randomization, I mean random things I, the GM, or whoever else does this afterwqards if it works, which I slightly doubt consideing it's a fighting RPG, and on top of that, it being a Forum, throw into the battle to maybe cause a tide shift just for the fun of it. This can be enviornment changes, additions to the fight, weapons etc, etc.
Now, this is how I think it's going to work so far. I'm going to break it down into two sections: PvE, and PvP. PvE is player versus Enviornment, for thpose who didn't know, and PvP is Player versus Player.
PvE:
This is you against x amount of NPCs, be it one two three, four, four 3/4... you get the idea. PvE is when you only fight against NPCs. If another player joins the same fight, the rules change to PvP. While in PvE, The NPCs are under my control. Depending on how tough they are meant to be, that's how hard they will be to beat. You can lose against an NPC, but whether or not he/she kills your character depends on how badly you were beaten, and if leathalities are 'enabled'. I get into the topic more throroughly later.
PvP:
So, Player versus Player. During thse fights, I will act as referee. Well, at least for the ones I host if I'm hosting. I will determine who has lost at x given point of time. If you try to run away, I will make it difficult to do so. If a Stu is used... well, let's just say I have something special planned for those characters. Anyways, these fights can be randomized as much as PvE fights. If I feel that something was a "low-blow", that will be penalized. If the same pattern of moves is used 3 5times consecutively, (spamming), that will also be penalized.
Tournament:
If you win a fight in the tournam, ent, you are one step closer to reaching the primary goal of the RPG. Though you can be eliminated, and still complete the story, winning the tournament is about the quickest way there. Many side "quests" will help you along the way in achieving your goal(s). Completing these may give you an edge in coming battles.
Play Style:
For the sake of keeping everyone on the same page, it will be run on slow post. In one week time, if one player has not responded, then the RPG will continue without them. I WILL NOT DEFEND YOUR CHARACTER IN SUCH A CASE! If you decide to "opt. out" and go AWOL, your character will simply keep getting hit, and hit, and hit, and without you present, will most probably gfet killed. If you aren't there while fighting an NPC, thast NPC has places to go, people to fight. My job, as the GM, is to keep the RPG moving. And even though the RPGF will be run on slow post, that's what I intend to do.
Lethalities:
Lethalities are moves that that would cause the death of your opponent. For example, one lethality would beripping someone's heart out. Now, the fatal position warning have made one or two players "quit" my RPGs for some reason. All I simply say is something like. "X Character is now in a possibly fatal position." Now, I can see how that can make someone freak out, but I'm totally fine with taking off the killing. If you don't want your character to be killed, you can disable the lethalities, but note that you cannot take, nor can you deliver lethalities when this is disabled. Now, I'm a bit skeptical on whether or not allow lethalities in PvE as well as in PvP, or just limit it to PvE. Some players may go on a "rampage" for being "KIA," and that's something I want to avoid, though I know that there are some players who would simply be okay with their characters dying. (Like me.)
PAF moves:
PAF stands for powerful as... you get the idea. Anyways, PAF moves are moves that are and should be used mostly just to shift the momentum of battle. These cannot cause death like lethalities (above). Each character is allowed one PAF, and one Lethality, if "enabled".
Characters:
Like I've said in many more of my RPGs, if your character is a Stu, he/she/it will die in this RPG. How it will happen is something... interesting. Anyways, enough of that. Your characters can have powers, abilities, or extreme attributes, or maybe some variety between the three. I'm totally for powers. In fact, I encourage them. They make the fighting much more fun for you, other players, and I. You can take into the RPG a maximum of three characters, but only one of those three can be entered in the tournament. You can bring two or one character. Hell, you don't even have to sign up for the tournament.
Navigation:
Odds are, I'm going to have a map to go with this RPG, just so that everyone can figure out where they are. The map won't be used much on my end, but you may want to use it when going from the Northern Mountains to Arena Valley (Locations' confirmation pending...).
I hope that I made sense, and din't scare anyone out of this up and coming RPG. This RPG style I first came in contact with in another site, and so maybe, just maybe, I might be able to pull it off here. Starclan help me...
Anyways, I hope that you found my idea interesting, even if you didn't like it. And if you felt like there was something that I didn't quite touch, or if you have a question, feel free to ask, and I'll answer to the best of my ability.
Starclan be with you all!
