It did, as predicted and left behind a black and blue mark on my cheek. “Don’t lie to me, Gyro. What were you doing with Rex?” I clung to my aching cheek, cradling it with one hand. “It was nothing. All I did was talk to him.” Pain shattered into my other cheek, leaving behind a red mark. “Didn’t I say not to lie to me? Now tell me what really happened.” His words were clipped and low, and his red eyes were darker then usual as extremely light blue quills(which were ringed with white) flexed.
Then it happened. I buried my head in his shoulder and sobbed uncontrollably. He suddenly smiled at me, running a hand on my back. “Shh. It’s okay, no one’ll hurt you anymore.” That was how it was with ICEY. One second, he was angry, slapping me or kicking me somewhere on my body, screaming angrily and the next thing I knew he was comforting me, rubbing my back and whispering soothing words in my ear. I blushed and my shoulder shook with sobs as he rubbed me and comforted me. “Just make sure you don’t do it again, okay, honey?” Then I felt his lips touch the black-and-blue mark on my cheek and ignored the tiny prick of pain. It felt so far away, and, somewhere in me, I forgave him. For now.

The old streets eminated of fossil fuels burning, roadkill and sadness. The ally was scattered with boxes, empty glass bottles and pieces of old news paper. In the distance, a siren went off and dogs yipped to eachother in thier own language. The streets felt cold and filled with the sorrow of the people around.
My body felt cold as ice. I longed to be warm and safe. I wished I had some money to get something to eat, but who would listen to a stray? No one. I curled up in a ball, attempting to get warm, as I drifted into a small rest.
I worried if the wrong person would find me here in this ally, alone in this cold, dark allyway. I dismissed this worry and held the arms of false hope, whispering false facts into my freezing ears.
