And that's saying a lot because I read a lot of manga and has many messes up characters like this. But gollum has always won me over each and every time.

He can be you can feel sorry for him, hate him (the end of the book/movie) you can find him cute (gollum v.s smeagol) and you can pity him. (Many parts of the book/movie). The sad thing is this doesn't only happen in fiction (not the obsession over something like the ring) but the whole 'talking to you 'second self' thing.

Yeah. No matter what, even when he was psychopathic and all i still really liked him because he had a part of him which wanted to be good....it is sad it happens outside the pages of JRR Tolkiens books
