Smallville Question

Can someone please give me a solid answer, to why everyone makes a big deal over Louis Lane in Smallville?

I'm not talking toward her rule in the superman movies because she is suppose to be on there, but why Smallville? Everyone knows Louis isn't suppose to meet Clark until he fully embraces his destiny with the title of " Superman" has anyone heard him being called that yet? I think not. The creators rushed her character into view as if they don't put her in now the sky is going to fall.

I'm not saying I hate Louis, but in Smallville her character doesn't fit into the plot because Louis wasn't the initial thought for the plans design. The show started with people that helped him and got him ready to embrace his destiny. Where was Louis doing that time? She really doesn't help him because he's already embraced his destiny when she meets him. That's the way it's been, that's the way the legend is told. The people that know Clark in Smallville, those are the people who really will make a difference and be marked down in history for helping Clark become a hero. It's their memories and friendships that Clark admired and believed in that he cared for the whole world. The story has to unfold somewhere and it all stems from when he was a child, teen, and beginning adult that he would be centered around a loving family and friends that he would start to become a super hero.

So, for all the people who dislike Louis for the above reasons, please contact me! I would love to hear your perspective toward this topic.

Oh, and I didn't forget about all the Smallville/ Louis fans. So, please give your perspective toward why Louis is even remotely important to Smallville's ORINGAL plot.

OK, I can see they like each other, but it will never top his love for Lana. Lana was his first love He has to much history with Lana for Lois to take her place. Why do you think there not together yet? Lois never reaches to Clark completly. She ends up falling in love with someone els in the legend he eares her memory. Just becasue the past is like this know with Lois doesn't mean -it is going to change the future of memory incident. or their future in any different way.

We dont even care what you think about Lois...Smallville is way better with her in it.And now more than ever Lois is so important to smallville cause she is the one connected to the future(pandora) and the one who actually helped clark to become what he is now..If u remember from pandora episode that lois is the reason he left and started the training...Or u were so jealous of clois that u couldnt stand watching that scene?..I know you're clana fan :)The are so many other reasons why she was and is important for smallville but i dont really have to explain them to you...just stop talking and deal with it

Well, since you can't give me a solid reason on why she's important, then she obsouisly isn't imporatnant. I don't care what a picture or video shows because I'm going by legend here, and Louis isn't in his past. So, therefore, she doesn't make him to be who he is today. In the Superman movies Louis marries. So, the future of Clark and Louis is short lived if anything. One more thing, Smallville is about Clark's young years, not about him being Superman. So, Louis doesn't fit into Smallville's ORINGAL plot. I think I hit a sensive spot. I don't see why, she's not apart of His young years, which means she's not a part of smallville. They just rushed her character into view before her time is up. So, don't tell me to not express myself on this matter. All of the loius fans do. I'm sick of all of you saying how much she is important. Don't put her on a peddle stool because she will fall soon. It's a proving fact because even when she knows superman, does she ever know it's Clark in the Superman movies? As for the epsiode you've mentioned about the future. Well, thats only one espiode. You know how quickly that can be changed or reversed? Now, I'm not trying to get on anyone's bad side here. It's just Smallville is Smallville, not a superman movie, and as fast as you realize that, the faster Louis will be out of the picture.

Why have Lois there?Because as you cant have superman without all these abilities the same way u cant have superman without lois lane in his life no matter what version is going to come up next lois is always gonna be there like it or not.

OK, but why have Lois in Clark's past? I'm not talking about when he is superman. I'm talking about BEFORE. There has to be something else before Lois and before Superman. Otherwise, what future would bring these two together?

After reading over your question and your comments on people's answers, it looks more to me like you want to prove something instead of genuinely listen and consider other's opinions. Please don't bite my head off for saying that; I'm not trying to be rude or snobby. This is just my objective impression. If I'm wrong about that, I'm truly sorry.

Now I'm not as huge a Smallville/Superman fan as other fanpoppers are, but I do have a few questions and things to say.

1) What do you mean by Lois not fitting in with the "ORIGINAL plot", and why are you getting so hung up on it?

That's the thing about plots - they DEVELOP. =P They grow. They progress. They move from point A to point B. New ideas are explored and new characters enter the scene...that's what keeps a TV show ALIVE. Complaining that Lois doesn't "fit in" or disliking her because she wasn't there from the start doesn't make a lot of sense to me. :-/

2) I didn't love Lana as a character, but I didn't hate her, either. She was sweet and beautiful, and she did have an important part to play in Clark's past. HOWEVER, going hand-in-hand with my previous point, the past is the past. It's the present now, and Clark is getting closer and closer to his future. AND to Lois. He's not a teen heart-throb chasing after meteor freaks anymore; he's a MAN with a new life and a red cape hanging ready for him in the closet. I think you need to accept that he's outgrowing his Smallville phase - including Lana - and just appreciate the new plotline for what it is.

3) As I've said, I liked Lana...but I quickly grew tired of the everlasting Clana soap opera. If it wasn't bambi eyes and syruppy I-wuv-yous, it was teen drama and "you just don't twust me!!!1" Off and on, off and on, AAUUGH.

If that's not how you saw it, that's fine and I respect your opinion. But frankly, Lois was a breath of fresh air to me after all that. I don't worship the ground she walks on like others do, but I still like her a lot. She's fun, smart, spunky and kickass, and I like the balance of banter and sweetness between her and Clark. Their relationship has a certain depth and authenticity about it that I never felt with the Clana ship.

I don't know much about the original "legends". I'm no Superman expert, and I don't obsess over every detail. But speaking both as a critic and a an average Smallville fan, I think she's done a lot to kick the show up a notch.

So there's my two cents. In conclusion, here's a quote from one of my favorite voice actors. And this is for ALL of you fans:

"Stop messing with each other just because people don't like what you like. Stop being mean to each other! For God's sake, I can't believe this kind of thing goes on. You know what? You guys are part of a huge family who loves a lot of the same things...and yet people still find things to fight about. Stop that crap!" --Vic Mignogna

All of you are losing the main focus of Smallville. Like a person said above in comments. Loius was brought in because Smallville was about to get cancelled. Well, what does that tell you? In the end, Clark will become Superman because in Smallville it's about him preparing to emrace his destiny, not being Superman. If he was already going to be Superman, then their would be no point to Smallville. Over all, Clark meant the people of Smallville for a reason. So, their the ones who are going to be marked down in legend. After all, loius fans said a new route will be taken. So, if it's new. Why is Louis even here?

Actually if you know anything about the comic book world you would know that there are tons of different versions and veriations of the story. The movies and smallville are completely their own stories. His story has been altered and changed to make a new stories. This is a series that has been around for over 70 years. Yes in that one superman movie Lois married someone else but in many different superman comics Lois and Clark were married, including the current version of the Superman comics. So as you can see every version has a different twist of the story with the same general concept, which is Clark journey as Superman and Lois has always been a major part of that.

Lois Lane has always been Clark Kents end game and a major part of who is and his story. So it was only natural to bring her. You honestly can't have Superman without his Lois Lane. Not when she is a character that is mentioned in almost EVERY version of the comics. So if your a true follower of the Superman Saga you wouldn't need for any of us to explain to you why Lois Lane is important. The whole point of Smallville is to show how Clark got his start, how he became the superhero. The show gave us a chance to meet everyone from his past for the first 3 seasons and it was only a matter of time before they brought in Lois. I think they gave him a chance to show all of that with out rushing Lois in and even when they did bring her in they were shoving her and Clark together. They've waited several season to even make them a couple. Which I think is plenty of time to develope Clark seperatly from Lois. Again I repeat, a HUGE part of who Clark Kent AND Superman are. At some point they had to ties the past to the future and with Lois they did that, just like they did that with bringing Clark to the Dailey Planet.

Please keep in mind the TRUE history of Superman before throwing around silly questions.

You dont know the legend!!! Oh my gosh stop talking about it your making yourself look dumb. In one VERSION of the story Clark erases her memory. ONE!!! Seriously you don't know anything about the comics which you are showing clearly and the comics are where your 'legend' comes from. In the current version of the comics Clark is married to Lois and she knows who he is. In other versions he's married to her too. SO stop quoting ONE version because there are so many. The reason why there are SO many Lois fans on the Smallville spot is because she is a MAJOR part of the show and of Superman. Next to Clark is she the next biggest character in the series history, THAT is why there are so many people who love lois because they understand and they know that she is important. So stop talking about things you clearly dont know anything about because she showed perfectly just how ignorant you are.

I understand where you are coming from.
I sometimes find myself scratching my head wondering why they added certain things to the show. Bringing Lois on was certainly a risky move. All in all I think it has worked out for the better. True, in the original Superman legends Lois is present after Clark dawns the tights and cape. I would like the chance to provide as solid a reason as I can to justify her role on SMALLVILLE.
The writers seem to have taken creative liborties with the show (such as bringing on doomsday). I think it is the same with Lois. By bringing such characters onto the show we viewers get a better understaning about them and how they came to be the uultimate villan of the love of Supermans life.
Originally Lois is a witty reporter who constantly seems to overlook Clark and is loyally in love with the Man of Steel(very similar to her part on Smallville)- Not to mention she gets stuck working with the world most bumbling reporter.
Which brings me to theory of why Lois is on the show: Don't forget, it is Lois who convinces Clark to take a job at the Daily Planet, which is VERY important for Superman. She provids an oportunity for him to create (or maintain- however you want to look at it) his alter-ego, which in turn allows him to be "The Red Blue Blur" without such risk of being discovered.
Lastly, mostly in regards to SMALLVILLE, rather than SUPERMAN, Lois is the reason Clark decides to maintain some of his humanity. After Jimmy's death/dooms day smackdown Clark comes to the conslusion that he should embrace his Kryptonian side and forsake all human ties to society. Because of his love for Lois he decides that he cannot do that and he returns to being both Clark Kent and the Blur.
I think Lois has a stable role on the show and as controversal as it may be at times, her character has erned the right to be a part of Smallville. (Though, perhaps for others, the show would be just as good without)

OK, thanks for your optioion. You've been really nice about this matter. Others haven't, but I think it's becasue I hit a soft nerve. I think everyone is entitled to their own perpsective toward Lois as well as the show in general. So, thank you for not shinning my opioion. In the end, it doesn't matter what any of us say. The show will be how it's going to be. I just don't see how she fits into the show's ORINGAL plot. It's plian as day that Lois doesn't meet Clark until after he is Superman. That's all I'm getting at. I'm looking at the facts of the legend. Even after he's with her. He erases her memory. So, how does her character benfit for future references to Superman?

You mentioned something about the Red Blue Blur, wasn't he called that before Lois was even mentioned? I know it was said around her, but how would you say she inspired that name? Don't forget she still didn't know it was Clark Kent.

I think it was jimmy who came up with "the blur" name. I could be mistaken. One the other hand the name came about when jimmy caught a snap shot of him saving Lois. Though, I am not sure how relevant that is to your original question, I just thought I would throw that in there =)

First of all, I'm a girl. And I'm not infactuted with Lana. I like the togetherness Clark and Lana had. Lana isn't forgotten. Future group back in season 7 told her of her importance. So, she'll have her props soon enough. How come no one can see Lois is an OLD version of Superman. She had no past with Clark dating back to his young years. She meets him after he is Superman not before. In the end of Smallville, he'll be Superman, then Lois is in the picture. Why are they rushing her in? Why dismantle the past by bringing in futureistic characters?
