The game starts out in Paris France, Police Headquarters. You find yourself on the roof, you talk to Bentley a few times, you steal the file, and meat Carmelita Fox, she chases you till you get to the van than on the find the pages of the Thievius Raccoonus, a manual of how to become a master thief, stolen by five villains. There is five worlds you go to, Tide Of Terror, Sunset Snake Eyes, Victios Voodoo, Fire In The Sky, and, The Cold Heart Of Hate. As you recover pager from the Thievius Raccoonus, you learn more moves and become a master thief. Defeat the five members, and repair the book. But many guards try to stop you but with your cane you can beat them all. Always remember that one of the vaults you can't open till the end of the game.
