Today I will be counting down my top 15 favorite"Saint Seiya"characters.

I will be only including character from the original"Saint Seiya"manga and the sequel manga"Saint Seiya: Next Dimension".
I will also try to avoid major spoilers as much as possible(however they still will be some).

15.Pandora

The "sister" of Hades and the commander of Hades' army of Specters.
I personally like her personality very much, she is calm, calculated, strict and quite brave(despite not being a fighter)as well.I also sympathize with her because of her tragic background story and I like the fact that she becomes quite useful towards the end of the series.

14.Siren Sorrento

One of Poseidon's Marine Generals and by far my favorite character from the"Poseidon"arc.
What I liked the most about him was the fact that he was the only Marine General who realized that they were being deceived and I liked his redemption as well.
Another thing that I like about him is that he's quite powerful,as shown by the fact that he was the only Marine General who didn't get killed.

13.Saori Kido/Athena

Saori Kido is the reincarnation of Athena. One of the things that I love the most about her is her character development. At first she was a spoiled and selfish brat but as the story went on she became kind, responsible and selfless.
Saori/Athena is a goddess who loves humanity and believes that humans always deserve a second chance.
I have to say that I liked her character the most in the"Hades"arc mostly because she came up with a brilliant plan to permanently kill Hades and end the Holy War cycle for once and for all.

12.Lyra Orphée

The Silver Saint of the Lyra constellation and a character that was inspired by the mythological character Orpheus.
Well what can I say?Being described as a Silver Saint who was more powerful than the Gold Saints,he was a quite intriguing character from the begin.I liked his tragic love story, the fact that he was really badass and his musical talent.

11.Ophiuchus Shaina

The Silver Saint of the Ophiuchus constellation and the master of Cassios(Seiya's first adversary).Shaina is a strong woman with a fiery personality who despite starting as an adversary to Seiya, later on becomes a quite helpful ally. The thing that I found the most interesting about her character was her inner turmoil.

10.Phoenix Ikki

The Bronze Saint of the Phoenix constellation. One of the characters with the most tragic past,Ikki symbolizes someone who went through hell and then came back again.I sympathize a lot with him because of what he went through and I also quite like his lone wolf personality and his total badassness.I also like how he and Shun have one of the best sibling relationships.

9.Virgo Shaka

The thing that I like the most about him is his subtle character development. In the"Sanctuary"arc he seemed like an arrogant and self centered person but the"Hades"arc showed his compassionate and understanding nature.
The other reasons why I liked him is because he is serene, wise and a total badass as well.

8.Eagle Marin

The Silver Saint of the Eagle constellation and the master of Pegasus Seiya.Marin is a character who played a quite important role throughout the series.I like her because she is smart, strong, strict, righteous and brave.
I also quite like the background story about her lost brother.

7.Dragon Shiryu

The Bronze Saint of the Dragon constellation. The reason why I like him is because he is calm, brave, wise and has a strong sense of justice. He is also so loyal to his friends to the point that he would even give his life to protect.
I also love his relationship with his master Dohko.
Also another thing that I like about his character is that despite his calm nature,he is so determined to defeat his enemies that he is willing to do all sorts of crazy things in order to win.

6.Cygnus Hyoga

The Bronze Saint of the Cygnus constellation. What I like the most about Hyoga is that he is the character who has developed the most throughout the series. His entire character arc was focused on how he should let go of the past in order to become stronger.
I also sympathize with him because of his sad background story and I like his calm and collected personality as well.

5.Capricorn Shura

The Gold Saint of the Capricorn constellation. When the"Saint Seiya"manga was adapted into an anime, his character was the one who underwent the most changes. In the manga he was a traitor while in the anime he was a man who did a terrible mistake because he was being deceived that he was doing the right thing.
When it comes to me I prefer his character in the manga because his personality was more complex.Shura was a man who believed that people have long ago stopped fighting for the gods so he considered it pointless for himself to continue fighting for Athena.Shura also shared the"Power is Justice"philosophy which is why he decided to side with the Pope even though he knew his true identity.According to him even though the Pope was evil,he could still use that power for some good.

4.Libra Dohko

The Gold Saint of the Libra constellation and the master of Dragon Shiryu.
I love wise old men characters,so Dohko was one of the characters that I liked from the begin.I really liked his relationship with his pupil Shiryu and when it turned out that he is the Libra Gold Saint the hype got real.In the first two story he was a passive character but still aided the Bronze Saints many times in their fight while in the third story arc he regains his young form again and participates in the war against Hades.
The interesting thing about Dohko is that he is the Libra Gold Saint of both the 18th and 20th century which is why his experience was quite helpful in the final war against Hades.

3.Aquarius Camus

The Gold Saint of the Aquarius constellation and the master of Cygnus Hyoga.
I liked him as a character since his first appearance because I like calm and serious characters.Camus is a man who believes that a Saint shouldn't let himself to be driven by emotions which is why most of the time he acts quite cold hearted.Camus deeply cared about his pupil Hyoga and played a big role in Hyoga's development as a character.Despite the fact that he was quite harsh to him during the"Sanctuary"arc,he did what he did in order to turn Hyoga into a strong Saint.

2.Crateris/Garuda Suikyo

The Silver Saint of the Crateris constellation who was later forced to work for Hades and the master of Pegasus Tenma.
Suikyo is by far my favorite character from the"Saint Seiya: Next Dimension"manga.I like him because he is honorable, righteous, selfless and a total badass as well.I also sympathize with him because he is a quite tragic character as he was forced to betrayed Athena and serve Hades in order to save his younger brother (who was soon going to die) from having to suffer in hell.
Another thing that I love about him is his relationship with Tenma. His teachings were the ones who helped Tenma to become a good person.

1.Gemini Saga

The Gold Saint of the Gemini constellation and the main antagonist of the"Sanctuary"arc.
Saga had two personalities, his original one which was a righteous man who was loyal to Athena and a second evil personality who wanted to kill Athena and replace her.
What I love about his character is how tragic and complex he is.Saga was a character who was caught between a constant inner battle between good and evil.As he said himself,he desired to dedicate his life fighting for justice but it was sadly not possible.
Saga would later return again in the"Hades"arc. This arc showed what kind of Saint,Saga would have been if he would have never suffered from having another personality.
Of course another thing that I love about Saga is his personality(I'm talking about his original one);he is intelligent, righteous, benevolent, serious, determined and a total badass as well. That being said despite the fact that I prefer Saga's original good personality,I also like his evil personality as well because he was a great antagonist.Even though in his evil side he is often referred to as the"reincarnation of evil" his motives weren't as simple as that.Evil Saga wanted to rule the world because he believed that he was more capable to protect the Earth from the wrath of Poseidon,Hades and Zeus than Athena who to him was nothing more than a silly little girl.I also find it interesting that evil Saga was delusional to the point in which he didn't even consider his deeds to be evil but instead considered himself as the true Savior of the world.
