I'm doing a book report in my biology class about shutter island. Essentially, I have to explain whether the science in the movie is realistic or not. I was wondering if there was a name or an actual process used in the film in regards to Teddy's rehabilitation. I mean the process by which he is allowed to live his fantasy so that he realizes the absurdity of it all. Has anyone done an actual study like this in real life? I just need a name or something for research purposes, because I can't think of any possible search queries to find information on this.
