No, he came up with most of the plans in the series. He came up with the one to blind the titans, thus giving the better students time to kill them so they could refill their gas cans. And the idea to use Eren's Titan form to block the hole in Wall Maria. He also thought up excuses/reasons on the spot to avoid being killed by the frightened students and generals when Eren turned into a Titan to defend him and Mikasa from being blown apart by a canon ball. He might not be the best fighter, or even in the top ten, but he is very intelligent.

Armin's actually more talented, I think, but this guy... I don't know, just feels like a grown-up and more experienced version of Armin to me, I guess.

yeah, i do agree that Erwin is so underrated character..

the first time i watched shingeki no kyojin (English Subs) I didn't give importance to his character

but when i watched the 2nd time Attack on Titan ,funimation (English Dubbed)

I really recognizes his role and how genius and influential he is.
