A new story that I've been working on for the past few weeks, I hope you all like it! It takes place in New Moon slightly after Bella has already found out that Jacob is a werewolf and before she jumped off the cliff. :P Enjoy!
*Bella's POV*
I was scrubbing down the place before I headed over to Emily's house to help prepare a meal for our werewolves: Jacob, Sam, Embry, Jared, and Paul. I was officially a wolf girl now.
The only time I ever thought of . . . them was when I heard his - Edward's - soft, velvet voice in my head when I was in perpetual danger, or just doing something reckless and stupid. I would do anything to hear his voice . . . it has been so long . . .
I just finished cleaning the kitchen when the phone started ringing. That was strange, I wasn't expecting a call from Jacob or anyone . . .
Worried that someone might be hurt, I quickly answered it.
"Hello?"
"Yes, this is the Foster Home Administrator speaking from Phoenix, Arizona. Is this Isabella Swan, daughter of Charlie Swan in Forks, Washington?" A man's gruff voice asked me.
"Yes, this is her speaking," I replied.
"We have called to inform you that your aunt and uncle has, unfortunately, passed away in a recent car accident. Alana Lynett Swan is their eleventh month old daughter and we have placed her in your care."
"Wait," An eleventh month old child?! "What?"
"You and your father, Charlie Swan, must go to the nearest airport to pick her up today in the next three hours. Please feel free to contact us for additional information, thank you, and may you have a safe trip."
And then he hung up.
What. Just. Happened? I was so shocked that I just stood there, frozen.
After a couple of minutes, I called Charlie and told him everything. He was heartbroken of his brother's and sister-in-law's deaths - who I had never even met. Then he decided to take off work early so that we could go and get my baby cousin, Alana, from the airport. After we had everything figured out, I called Emily.
"Hello?" she answered, sounding tired, which made me feel even more guilty that I would not be there to help her.
"Hey Emily, it's Bella. I just wanted to call and tell you that I won't be able to come over because I have to go with Charlie to pick up my baby cousin at the airport."
"Oh, it's fine Bella, Leah was already coming over so I'll get her to help me out. When will I get to meet this baby cousin of yours?" she asked, sounding like she was excited.
I smiled.
"Probably soon, but I'd better go and child proof the place."
"Okay, call me soon!"
"All right, bye Emily!"
"Bye Bella!"
And she hung up, and I began getting the house ready.
* * *
"Well, she sure is a cutie pie!" Charlie said as I fastened the tiny baby girl in the pink carseat.
"Yeah, she is," I said, smiling, as Alana giggled.
Alana had ivory skin, cute chubby cheeks, thin light blond hair that curled up in places, and crystal blue eyes. She didn't look anything like me, yet there was a resemblance in our personality's that I really liked.
On the way home she seemed really quiet, only speaking when she saw something interesting.
She could say things like bye bye, and hi, but strangely no mommy or daddy.
I guess we'd have to work on that . . . wait, what am I saying? I don't know anything about babies! How am I suppose to care for Alana? Strangely enough, why did they pick me to be her caretaker? Why not Renee?
We had went and bought the milk formula, bottles, baby wipes, and diapers for her and by the time we reached home, it was time for Alana's bedtime.
I tucked her in bed with me since I didn't get to buy a baby bed.
She snuggled up to me quietly, drawn to my warmth, and I hugged her to sleep.
I know in the books it said that Bella didn't have any relatives, but plz pretend she did! :)
