The Cover of the book!
The Cover of the book!
Hi guys, this is my 3rd novel that I had read from Cecilia Ahern, and here are my thoughts on the novel. Are you ready?

The Story

I feel that the story is very sad, because it's about Sabrina who wants to know about her father's past. It was very similar to Nicholas Sparks' "The Notebook" because it was like the past about her father's childhood to adulthood and that he is suffering from either Dementia or Alzheimer's disease, most likely the former!

The Characters

Sabrina is a determine young girl, who tries to help with her father and to get to know him better. She uses his marbles to help her along the way to know more about his past, I really like her a lot because she is a very likable character to start of with. As a matter of fact, she slightly reminds of myself because I have photographic memory when it comes to certain things!
Her dad on the other hand, has a troubled childhood because he was raised in a religious school and it was a strict upbringing. At one point, he was beaten by Father Murphy for not understanding his Irish accent properly. I kind of feel bad for him at this point.
As the story progresses, Fergus (Sabrina's dad) slowly regains his memory and I'm very happy for him that he did.

Story Similarities

As mentioned, the novel bears some similarities with The Notebook by Nicholas Cage due to how the story is told. It also reminds me of Titanic and Iris which stars both Kate Winslet, because both films deal with old age and retelling their respective pasts.

A Worthy Book

So, do you think this book is worth reading it? I would definitely say yes! Go ahead.
Thanks for the memories.

Daniel J. Levitin, 2008, 354 pages

Could music unlock the mystery of who we are and how we think?

An unprecedented blend of science and art, Daniel Levitin’s bestselling debut, This Is Your Brain on Music, changed the way we understand how music gets in our heads. Now, in what is being called a tour de force by leading scientists, he presents his audacious theory of ‘six songs,’ the key to how music shaped humanity across cultures and throughout history.

Preserving the emotional heritage of our lives and of our species, music from its very beginning, was allied to dance, as the structure...
