Poetry Hiding Behind a Mask

Just a little poem I wrote a while ago......................

I've been searching for answers I already know,
wasting my breath, on truth nobody will believe,
maybe I do like to believe I'm the same,

I'm just like everybody else,

fighting back fears.

My tears I wasted, on false beliefs I thought was love,
my screams I've drowned, somewhere beneath my burned out lungs.

Oh, I'm tangled in thorns,
my body I'd convinced myself was made of stone,
I'm sinking in the sea,
an anchor my body is,
stuck under water.

There's a loneliness sinking in,
nobody to hear me,
nobody to see me.

I'm behind a mask,

my bare arms and legs covered in cloth,
I can't escape,
I'm alone under water,
an anchor in the ground.
