Awoken by thy midnight toll, the dream still fresh
In mind. Engulfed by deafening darkness, thoughts Of fear. I'm drowning in the silent night. I run To see if you're still here. I shout and call, but no sound Returns my plea. I find my bedroom and lay down My head to reenter slumber, but the numbness of sleep Is interrupted by monumental misgivings that shake my soul, In dead of night I hear a noise. My eyes open, heart Is beating erratically. My body ensnarled by claws Of fear. I turn around to look. My chamber walls Encased by shadows embrace, my safe cocoon is full Of dread. The noise continues to drive my sleep away My eyeballs fall upon the closet door. I see A liquid creep and crawl from underneath. I slowly approach the door. It sounds familiar. Thoughts Of wonder enter mind, it couldn't be. Consumption rang In my mind. I reached the doorknob with trembling hand. The door began to shake and open, blackness filled My view. I awoke in bed covered in sweat. I looked At the closet, my heart stopped. The door was open to reveal The inside. It was bloodstained, the wood engraved With words that made me run. Just three simple words And eight letters. Running through my brain I can't believe it actually said "I love you." |
