Peter believers have always been coming and going, it isnt anything new. I'm sorry about your friend, people change and it isn't always for the better.

Besides, maybe Mr. Barrie knew Peter when he was a boy, but he only remembered subconsciously and it inspired his story. There is no way to prove or disprove the existence of Peter so don't bother.
i dont know your friend might lost belief in peter and started believing in something else or your friend might think that peter pan is not real but just a story.
