Percy Jackson and the Olympians Question

does any one else think that its a little weird for Logan Lerman(even though he is adorable and a great actor)who is 18 to be playing the role of Percy when in the mive, percy is only like 12 or 13?

Yes, even though Logan Lerman is absolutley adorable, he is 18. I just looked it up on line. I personally think it is a little weird but he is just so Damn cute that i dont think anyone ever really noticed. P.S. i you look at him up-close (or his picture like I did) he and Zac Efron could easilly be brothers they look so much alike!

He's only twelve in the first book. I thought the movie was good, but I'm going to strangle the person who hired a brunette to play Annabeth.

um, yeah that was why people don't think the movie is very accurate. We already covered this. And I think that it IS kind of noticeable that he's not 12!.

Percy as a High Schooler in the movie when he was young enough to be my twin brother in the book? Yeah, I think it's weird. It's one of many things they screwed up in the movie. My mom says they made him older so he and Annabeth could have more of a love story. O.O

Probably one of the reasons. Hollywood makes actors older to bring in older audeinces, to make them more appealing to people, and so they can get their romances in.

Just because Percy and the other kids are 12 doesn't mean it would be less apealing. It's about an impulsive boy whoturns out to be the sonof a God, saves the earth, and meets every sort of magical creature imaginable. That sounds pretty apealing no matter what age. Hollywood people can be dummies sometimes.

Percy is 12 in the first book. They adapted the movie so that everyone is older. It's Hollywood, they keep all the actors older than their characters. The people that play Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger are around two years older than their characters.

For the movie version they aged up the characters to 16/17 to bring in a teen audience not just the younger age bracket.

I read on fanpop that they did it to appeal to older viewers. But honestly no one gives a crap if it's appealing to older viewers. For Hades' sake Percy is suppose to be twenty at the end of the HOO series. He'll be 25 by the time that happens. All because Holly Wood is too lazy to find 12 year olds.

Yes I totaly agree. We all know that Logan is a total cutie, but I don't think he should have played Percy. Sure directers to it all the time, but most of the time the age difference is small, about 2 or 3 years, not 6. Sure they were able to make him look younger, but I asked my mom to guess how old Percy was based on the movie and she answered 16. I told her the correct answer and she was shocked. Most of the time, age isn't a big deal, but here? Every year is curcial. The prophecy would have come true in movie one rather than five. I do think that they bumped up the ages to attract an older audience, but Percy Jackson is so popular that people knew the difference. It's just anothr of the thinks messed up in the movie because Hollywood is too focused on Twilight.

His age will not work if they have a sequel. It will mess up the Great Prophecy. He is supposed to turn 16 and save the world, but he already is 16! Outrageous!
