It made sense to me because nurses and doctors have to ask that question. And you don't have to have the same skin-tone to be related to someone. It didn't even have to be blood-related, he could have been in in-law or part of a step family.

You'd be surprised how many biracial families there are - sometimes its really hard to tell...as a nurse, yes we have to ask, although we can be lenient about visiting hours (especially with palliative clients)

i myself have some black relatives and well as you can see from profile i'm white so i wouldn't think anything of it
