You have no idea how much I wanted to answer that he was possessed by Gollom, but he went to LA and ruined it with that bloody ring! He only proposed to Lindsey because he didn't want to be alone. i think he can't let go of her, i think he may have kept it hoping that "someday" peyton may wear it, to me i think he tried "moving on" not because he wanted to but because he's an idiot and either left like he had to, or tried to convince himself that peyton wanted him to, or that he could truly be happy with out her.
