	jemgrl323 picked Brooke, my best friend of coruse!: gogokef, when you said "Peyton didn't pick Lucas because they could together after BL broke up but they weren't!"-- i totally agree with that statement. while i may think the fact that she lied and betrayed her best friend's trust was wrong and there's no way to justify that in my opinion- ULTIMATELY peyton did choose brooke over lucas because she told lucas she couldn't be with him because brooke is her best friend and she needs to be there for brooke. she told him that even BEFORE she knew that brooke knew about their affair. i think that what peyton realized is that being with the person you love (assuming peyton was in love with lucas in the first season) is only incredible if the circumstances are right. peyton made the respectable decision (at least respectable in my opinion) not to date lucas in the first season after brooke and lucas broke up because being with him would not be really great if it meant having to loose a best friend, feel like a liar, and feel ashamed of your actions. when you are in love- you want your friends and family to be happy for you. you want to be proud of you relationship--- and ultimately you really just want to be happy. i think it's very difficult to be happy in your relationship if you feel like your relationship began with betrayal and lies and involved hurting someone you care about deeply. even in season 4 when peyton and lucas start dating....peyton doesn't tell lucas about her feelings for him until she knows for sure that brooke is completely over lucas and that lucas is completely over brooke. while brooke and peyton were not so close at that point- i think peyton knew that it would just feel wrong to be in a relationship with someone you love and then feel ashamed of it. that's not the kind of relationship that people hope for and people dream about. im not excusing the fact that both peyton and lucas lied to brooke and completely betrayed her trust by cheating on her...and im not even excusing peyton's actions in season 3 when she tells brooke that she has feelings for lucas because i honestly don't support either of those decisions. BUT i think peyton did the extremely mature thing and made a decision that would benefit brooke, lucas, and herself (!) by waiting to be with lucas until everything was completely over with brooke and lucas and there were no more hard feelings--- even if that meant waiting until the middle/end of season 4. posted over a year ago.
