The Yami Yami No Mi is a very powerful fruit, plus, Blackbeard also has the Goru Goru No Mi, which Shanks used to fight hand to hand against when he used to fight with Whitebeard... This is a very difficult decision. The Darkness fruit's oppressive powers wouldn't work on Shanks, as he has no Devil's Fruit. Also, Shanks is able tp use all three of the Hakis... I think Shanks would have a bit of an edge over Blackbeard.

well it was said that before the two year time skip even with Consuming the Goro Goro no mi Shanks could still kill black beard As of right now because of the time skip we don't know how strong Teach has become we Also Know Teach has knowledge of Haki but we don't know if he can use it this question has two many unknown factors that still have yet to be answered. As we haven't seen Shanks give it his all nor have we seen black beard give it his all as he always has fought agaisnt those with the powers of a devil fruit. One advantage I think Teach has is that the Yam Yam can control Gravity

A lot of "if's" go into this decision. If we're talking about the Blackbeard that exists after the time skip, if that same Blackbeard is well along the way to mastering the Goru Goru No Mi, and if Blackbeard has access to Haki (we aren't sure on this, though I believe he does), then Blackbeard would likely win this fight. He has control over earthquakes and gravity. Shanks is a badass, don't get me wrong, but he would be fighting on level with Whitebeard, at best. Blackbeard will likely be fighting slightly above it, with access to two abilities that can likely be used en tandem to enhance each ability well above what should be possible alone.

As far as I've seen, Blackbeard has never ACTUALLY controlled gravity... I believe that Yami Yami No Mi has control over darkness, and I cannot say that he has actually ever controlled gravity. Whether or not this is true, even if Blackbeard has Haki, there is a one in a million chance that he has control over the most powerful Haki of all, the Haoshoku Haki. Plus, we know that Shanks fought Kaido, another Yonkou, and was strong enough to then appear at Marineford four days later and stand up to the Marines and World Government. Plus, Shanks was fighting on par with Whitebeard when they were much, much younger. We haven't seen Shanks true potential, either. Hence my indecisiveness.

Yes, blackbeard controls gravity that appears as darkness but I think that Shanks would win. I mean Blackbeard only won his fight against Ace cause of he disabled his fruit powers. Whitebeard was already finished before managing to kick the hell out of Teach. Later when it shows the scene where Blackbeard and his crew ran from Akainu, told is that he was weak. After timeskip Im sure that Shanks would also get stronger.

No Shanks wasn't on Par with Whitebeard they were just inlocked with there weapons to talk because Whitebeard likes being confronted.& The yam Yam does have control over Gravity. is that it allows the user to control darkness and its unique property of gravity. You see this when Teach Fights Ace he was able to pull him in and nullify his power. However there is too many If's. We really need to see Shanks & Black beard after the two year time skip to see how powerful they have become.

Last time: Teach was able to give scars on Shanks' eye, the time when he had no devil fruit power.
Now: Teach gained Yami Yami no mi power, which is considered as the most dangerous power of all + he consumed Whitebeard's Gura Gura no mi power as well, which is considered as the most powerful Paramisia devil fruit.

Do you really consider three scars to be a sign of losing! Dude, Luffy got beaten up (fu@%ed) by Lucci and yet he won and brought down the whole Ennis Looby! Zoro is practically brought near death every battle with deadly wounds and yet he win and survive to shrug about it!
Besides, I think that Whitebeard's power is not the strongest among Paramecia devil fruits, it does causes a hell of a destruction to the surrounding, but against a seemingly professional Haki user as Shanks, it may not be of that much power! I think! XD

like we've said Blackbeardyman there are too many unknown factors. we know teach has knowledge of Haki so he's proabily more than likely able to avoid it. We know Shanks can use at least two forms of Haki. We've seen the devistating powers of the Yami Yami and Guro Guro but don't know how Masterful Teach is. We know Teach beat Shanks in comabt witch in turn Makes Shanks scared of black beard. however the Marines say Shank could kill Teach. so we honestly have to wait to see if they clash or not.

@Wolf. Shanks can use the strongest Haki of them all, plus it has been said that he knows all three of them - I'm inclined to agree with that, plus it has also been said that Shanks could stop Whitebeard's Quake powers with his sword, which is no mean feat.

Even with the Yami Yami No Mi, Blackbeard took a devastating hit from Whitebeard during Marineford. Plus, Kaido is said to be an incredibly strong member of the Yonkou, and Shanks fought him and seemed to be perfectly fine four days later... I think we are underestimating him somewhat, he is a member of the Yonkou after all, in other words, one of the four Emperors... That deserves some acknowledgement I think.

Shanks didn't Stop his Quake Power Whitebeard and Shanks merely Clashed Weapons to talk. Yes he pose's all three types of Haki however the the third one only effects people with Weak Minds/ wills. The Yami Yami did effect white beard but White beard just didn't give a fuck. Like we've been saying we have to see how strong both have become after the time skip.

Ok all those who pick Blackbeard are crazy. Shanks is a badass. Blackbeard needed his whole crew to kill whitebeard that shows blackbeard a coward. Nd everyone says Blackbeard is powerful cause he has two fruit NO that just show how weak he is. Trying to take other people devil fruit. Shanks does not need a devil fruit to fight anyone like he walks around with only one arm and survives the pirate world. Also I don't think Blackbeard and shanks will even fight because luffy is going to kick Blackbeard ass for capturing ace so... agree with luffyboss. if blackbeard has Whitebeard's d.f. it doesn't mean he's as strong.Whitebeard had much more to himself.and who said Shanks is afraid of him and lost combat with him lol what a statement he was afraid for Ace not to die not for himself.and Blackbeard is kinda pussy which he proved in several occasions so even comparing him to one of the coolest characters of series is insulting:)
