Norm of the North is a 2016 animated film. Norm of the North has been highly hated by critics. For a while it had 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. Why?
I think Norm of the North is a great animated film. Although I liked Inside Out I think it getting over 95% on Rotten Tomatoes is silly. I think Norm of the North is a more fun film than Inside Out.
the plot: The plot of Norm of the North is made to spread a environmental message. Although it's predictable it's well done and fun. The rivalry between Norm and Mr. Greene is fun to watch. The subplot about Vera spending too much time working is oddly refreshing, because for once the mom is the over-worker instead of the dad.
the music/production qualities: The animation has been heavily mocked. I will admit that the backgrounds look cheap, but that doesn't ruin the film. Plus the character animation is great. The characters look very colorful. The music is pretty good. The songs are catchy.
the characters and cast: All of the main and supporting characters are good. There are no terrible characters in the film. Norm is a pretty good protagonist. Vera and her storyline are pretty good. The Lemmings are funny comedy reliefs that are less annoying than the Minions from Despicable Me. The scene stealer in the film is Mr. Greene. He's such a fun, goofy character. I love the silly way he constantly moves around. The voice acting especially Rob Schneider, Ken Jeong, and Bill Nighy is good.
Overall Norm of the North is a great animated film and I highly recommend it.
