The CW hit, Supernatural ended with the temporary death of Dean Winchester. A heartsick Sam would leave his brother alone in his room while he stewed in the dark. Knowing Crowley was the point that caused it all, Sam had tried to summon him. But our once again King of Hell had gone to Dean's room to talk to him. Crowley would tell Dean about Cain whose mark he bared since First Born. He revealed that Cain had sacrificed himself as well but the mark, never seemed to have let go. Cue the black eyes because this upcoming season is vast and dark for our beloved Dean.
So what is going to happen to him now that he has become his nightmare? Or what Sam or Cas will do? Or even if Cas is going to get his grace back. Well, I have a few ideas--or I should say theories of what may happen:
--Demon Dean--
Theory 1: Dean Obeys Crowley
Ok considering the fact that Dean is now a black-eyed demon--which is the followers of the flock--it means that he has to follow Crowley's orders, right? Technically, yes but the real question is-- would he? As a die hard fan, I have full faith that Dean will chose not to be Crowley's puppy. But come on, it's a bloody Winchester! Can you imagine how smart of a demon Dean is going to be?
He knows what a devil's trap looks like, he knows how hunters think-- if you ask me, Crowley may not want to let him go. But if Dean is still Dean on the inside, he knows from his years of experience that demons should not be trusted--even if your the same species. The hunter, Gordon was a great example for being twisted and not thinking his thoughts out. But he did end up becoming the thing he hated most which he met his demise because of it. So would you see Dean following the King of Hell around? I'm sure Crowley is thinking that having a former hunter on his side may be the the best thing to happen. But it is up for Dean to decide what he does.
Theory 2: Dean Overpowers Crowley
If he doesn't follow, then he may overpower his enemy. Truth being that Dean indeed has that dark tattoo of the Mark of Cain etched on his arm--who knows what he can really do. As the story goes though, the Mark is what revived him from death so in a way, it is good. However, it did mangle him into a demon on the way. Remember what Cain had told them? He not only warned Dean about taking on the Mark but told them that he killed the Knights of Hell with it.
If it can kill the most powerful legion of demon in Hell, then it could probably kill just about anything. If Dean was to use this as an advantage, he may be able to get out of Crowley's grips-- he is the new version of Cain after all. Whatever hell that skull stick can do, Crowley may know it. But I'm sure he is of no concern what so ever. And in case you didn't notice, Crowley was shaking in his boots when they met with Cain so he knows something that we don't yet. Cain is feared which means Dean should be too now.
Theory 3: Sam cures Dean
As of last season, we had learned that demons can indeed be cured of their "demonism". The Men of Letter's collection had revealed that human blood was the answer and Sam has plenty of it. But before this happens, Dean will have to reveal his new change to his brother which may not happen right away from our former experience. However, I do have a feeling that Dean may flick on the black eyes to Sam by accident. At first, Sam would probably be caught off guard and instantly think that his brother can't be trust.
But if it is still Dean on the inside, Sam will come around and make the drastic decision to cure his brother. But capturing and restraining him may be difficult. For all we know, we may have Sam chasing Dean around, trying everything in his power to get him trapped. Or maybe, Dean will agree with his brother and prefer to return to his human self, letting his brother restrain him and begin the process. Either way, I'm sure a majority of this season will be Sam trying to save his brother from what he has become.
--What About Cas?--
Theory 1: Cas Retrieves His Grace
As of now, Cas is living on borrowed time. About midway to the end of the season, Cas had reluctantly stolen a fellow angel's grace. However, he wasn't only told by Metatron but by his former followers too that it is slowly burning away as he uses it. He is required to replenish it before it burns all the way out but how is he going to do it? The solution is to find his own, wherever it may be.
If you remember, Metatron was the last one to have seen it as he took it himself. I have a feeling Cas' grace is still on him, he just won't say exactly where. Metatron must realize that Cas is his biggest threat but Sam is also--being that he killed Dean. So do you think Metatron had stashed it somewhere or did he "lose" it? It could be either or to be honest. But I can see Metatron stashing it some where, where Cas wouldn't look.
Theory 2: Cas Returns to Role of Leader
Despite what Cas says about not being a leader, he has been leader material for a long time. You remember way back in season four when we first met him? During that period of time, he was a person that had a decent amount of power but had to still follow around Uriel. About the time of The Man Who Knew Too Much, he wanted to be leader. But when things happened, he blamed himself for them so he turned to avoiding every type of leadership.
As much as Cas tries, he always tends to return to his position of leader--this season being no exception. I believe that Cas may reprise his skills as a leader for just a bit--or until Metatron is killed--and gain his former followers trust once again. The crude scribe writer may be behind bars now but he probually has more up his sleeve. So I believe it is best for the other angels to look up at Cas for now until Metatron meets his fate. The scribe has already proven that he for one is not meant to be ahead of the flock.

Gabriel Theory: Was He Really There?
A lot of fans were surprised by Gabriel's return during Meta Fiction, but it also has fans stumped. In season five's Hammer of the Gods, Gabriel had a death match with his famous brother, Lucifer. This ended up being his death scene as Lucifer hadn't fallen for his old tricks. It was a sad day in the fandom after the episode had aired as we lost one of the greatest characters of the series. But four years later, that sly smirk returned. But how? I have a few ideas.
As we know, Gabriel could make things appear out of thin air, one of these being his TV land from classic Changing Channels. In Meta Fiction, Gabriel would appear to Cas after his TV mysteriously turned on to Casa Erotica. Because of where he came from, I believe that Gabriel is still around--most likely in his TV land. It is where he was most comfortable and enjoyed his time. Hopefully, we will see him again in the future.
Plot Theory: Metatron Escapes Jail
Have to be honest with you, Supernatural is not Supernatural without an enemy. Just like every other TV show, it requires a villain of some kind. As of the end of Do You Believe in Miracles?, Metatron had been locked up in Heaven's jail. But does this mean he'll stay there? If you remember, Gadreel had been in his same shoes centuries before.
The story goes that Metatron himself was actually the one who broke him out. If he can get another out then he could break himself out, right? I believe that Metatron will escape or someone will help him to. But he needs to be weary of who he has after him--Sam and Cas being the most important. Do you believe he'll manage to escape?
Well I hope you enjoyed this article. It took me sometime but finally got it done. I seriously can't wait for this upcoming season! So what do you all think will happen? Thanks for reading :)
