The tan beagle is good for hunting, for camouflage. The tri-colored beagle is good for show, when you want your audience/prey to see you.

^ LOL. Most Beagles are tricolored, so they must be extremely effective at hunting. In fact, tricolor is the most common "hound color" for scenthounds. That said, I love Beagles of other colors and wish I saw them more often--ticked, blue, lemon, etc.
