I just saw Cold Mountain again, it was on TV last week. It's a very long film (Anthony Minghella makes really, really long films, like the English Patient). It's such a beautiful and powerful story, it brings up so many different and strong emotions, especially the last 15-20 minutes. I love the chemistry between Nicole and Jude's characters (even though there apart for most of the film) and the friendship between Ada and Ruby. The longing for lost love, the brutality and ultimate futility of war, the friendship, the way Ada changed from a pampered Southerne Belle into a self-sufficient woman learning to stand on her own and get her hands dirty keeping the farm going with Ruby. It's a movie you appreciate more the second (or third or fourth) time you see it. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but the ending had my in tears. Anthony Minghella is such an amazing director/filmmaker. He saw Nicole as his muse (the character Claudia in Nine, which Minghella wrote, was specifically for Nicole). It comes through in the film. Nicole was perfect in the role of Ada Monroe.

The last Nic movie I have seen is Australia by Baz Luhrmann. It's a good movie? I think is a medium movie, but not a good movie. What's the last time which Nic has work with a great director? Many years ago! In 2003, with Lars Von Trier. Sorry kidmaniacs, but Nic doesn't work with great directors since maybe 8 years. In comparison, today Kate Winslet and Marion Cotillard has made so much wonderful movies.

I disagree, The last film I saw in the theaters was The Rabbit Hole which was directed by the very talented John Cameron Mitchell, which got Nicole an Oscar Nomination last year. :)

I don't think Baz Luhmann is bad, he just has special extraordinary style not everyone can appreciate 🙂
