A cool autumn breeze rolled over head as the farmer's market ran their daily shops, catering to the many customers, all of which who were collecting ingredients to make large dinners in order to celebrate the Day of Vitae, a holiday to celebrate the day the Castle gave life to all of Pendallan. For most, November 3rd was a day of large celebration, getting to meet with old family, having fun, and occasionally getting drunk making it easily one of the most jolly days the kingdom sees throughout the year, but for a specific family, the Hales family, not only was it the Day of Vitae, but also their dad's birthday.
"Do you need anything else?" Erik asked one of the customers who was over at the portion on the market he worked at.
"Oh no sonny." The customer replied, a smile forming on her face. "My grandchildren will adore the food I can make with this. Thank you for your help."
"Youre welcome." Erik replied as she watched the customer walk off for a bit before turning back to the fruits stand that he was near. It was true that a lot of the crops and meat that Marcus, the farmer and family friend that hired him, provided tended to be some of the top quality produce in the area. For a short while he seemed to zone out in thought before he heard his name get called out.
"Erik!" The manager at the time, James, called out causing Erik to turn around. Slowly James walked over to him, seeming to have a friendly smile on his face. "Its Corin's birthday today as well right? If you like, youve been doing a good job today. You can go home a little early if you like."
"Oh yeah, it is." Erik responded as he scratched the side of his face awkwardly having somewhat forgotten about that half to the day, much like he did every year. He paused for a second as he considered how he was going to go about hiding the fact he forgot again this year before snapping back to focus as he looked back up at James. "Thank you. I actually could probably use the extra time. Ill make it up to you next shift." He said with a light chuckle as he untied his apron and made his way over to his bike where he put the apron in the small bag that was in his bike's basket, unlocked the bike, and began riding down the market. He made a few stops before riding out of the market where he headed off towards the Hales' household.
After a short biking trip, Erik rode up to the front yard of the Hales' household where he took a few seconds to look up at the house. It hadn't been that long since he visited, maybe a few days at most, but there was always some sentimental feelings each time he came back to see it. After a short while, he moved his bike over into the garage before heading over to the front door and knocking three times.
