I have a Question about Gaara..

I know in the anime video games and such he has red hair, and I was re-reading the manga and I noticed on the cover of Vol. 15 he has dark brown hair but there's a picture of him on the back and he has red hair again, did anyone else notice this?

Probably either a coloring mistake or it only appeared brown. Was he in a shady spot?
