what exactly is a totoro?
i know wat they look like and ive seen the movie and i see them act cute :) but i dont understand them

If my inference is correct, I believe the term "totoro" is translated into or is related to the word "troll" in english. Which, in Japan, could be associated with any spirit (or in this case, Forest Spirit).
