Sean's idea is nice, but you're right - even if you had the equipment needed to complete it, filming stop motion takes forever. And that's not even counting all the preparation before filming (e.g. coming up with a story, making the set)!

I have seen some fans do stop motion with their toys though (not just MLP either - I know Lego is a favourite among aspiring animators) and it's a great thing to do if you have the time and the equipment. Just be prepared for each second of animation to take about 2-3 hours of your own time. XD
