I wouldn't say it's unique, but I also think it is not overdone either. ^^

The shape of her mane (and other very similar shapes) are used for a few background characters, but the amount of colours in her mane is different to others in G4. There were a lot of rainbow ponies in G1 though, so while that side of it is different in FiM it's not really in comparison to other MLP characters in general.

In terms of mane shape, there are a couple of designs that are overused for background characters, but fortunately none of the main characters have the same style (I think the style I'm thinking of is the one Cheerilee has, and I'm pretty sure the two background characters fans named Lyra and Bon Bon have that mane too).

So while I wouldn't go as far as to call Dash's mane unique, it is still pretty interesting!
