Episode 5: Avengers Age of Ultron Review
[Warning! This review contains spoilers for Avengers: Age of Ultron! Read at your own risk!]
Nick: Hello and welcome to another grand episode of Comic Talk!
Sunset Shimmer: Today we’re reviewing the new superhero movie in the MCU, Avengers: Age of Ultron!
Nick: This film starts with the Avengers conducting a raid on a HYDRA base in Sokovia. Also, we meet the twins, Wanda and Pietro Maximoff.
Sunset Shimmer: It’s revealed that Baron Strucker has been experimenting on humans using Loki’s staff. Also, HYDRA has been building strange robots.
Nick: Meanwhile, the rest of the Avengers are decimating HYDRA’s forces, while Pietro battles with Hawkeye.
Sunset Shimmer: Iron Man enters the HYDRA base, and Scarlet Witch gets into Tony’s head. He is shown a vision where the Avengers have all been slain, and a new fleet of Chitauri have invaded Earth.
Nick: Eventually, the Avengers are triumphant and return to their base, with Loki’s Staff as loot.
Sunset Shimmer: Tony Stark and Bruce Banner realize that Loki’s Staff has an intelligence inside of it, dubbing it “Ultron”.
Nick: The two decide to use Ultron to improve their Iron Legion, which means that the Avengers can go home.
Sunset Shimmer: However, Ultron kills JARVIS, and infects an Iron Legion body.
Nick: Meanwhile, the Avengers are partying it up, while Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, figures out that Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, are starting a relationship.
Sunset Shimmer: Suddenly, the Ultron Iron Legion insults and attacks the Avengers, resulting in a pretty good battle. Thor and Captain America destroy most of the Iron Legion, while Ultron escapes via the internet.
Nick: After a while, the Avengers begin to squabble with each other about Ultron, and that Tony Stark kept it a secret from everyone.
Sunset Shimmer: Meanwhile, Pietro and Wanda find Ultron in an abandoned building, and we learn why the two hate the Avengers. It turns out that a Stark weapon had killed their parents, and the two join with Ultron.
Nick: The Avengers learn that Ultron is going to visit Ulysses Klaw, an arms dealer. Pietro and Wanda try to intimidate him, but he only cooperates when Ultron arrives.
Sunset Shimmer: Also, Klaw compares to Ultron to Tony Stark, which results in him arm being ripped off.
Nick: The Avengers arrive and battle with the trio and Klaw’s men. Wands shows Thor, Captain America, and Black Widow horrible things from their past and future, resulting in them being incapacitated.
Sunset Shimmer: Interestingly enough, Hawkeye shocks Wanda, which gives Pietro enough time to escape with her. However, Wanda messes with Bruce Banner's mind, which results in him turning into the Hulk.
Nick: Thinking quickly, Iron Man brings in his “Veronica” armor, which allows him to fight the Hulk.
Sunset Shimmer: Iron Man stops the Hulk, and the Avengers retreat to Hawkeyes farm, which has his pregnant wife and two kids.
Nick: After some stuff on the farm, Ultron decides to build a new body, one made of human cells and Vibranium, which he stole from Klaw.
Sunset Shimmer: However, the body is taken by the Avengers, which they put the Mind Stone into. This new robot calls himself Vision, and he contains the AI of JARVIS.
Nick: Also, Wanda and Pietro learn of Ultron’s true motives and leave him. The nine Avengers travel to Sokovia, where Ultron plans to lift the small country and launch it back at Earth, creating an extinction event.
Sunset Shimmer: A large battle is fought, while Iron Man tries to find a solution.
Nick: In the nick of time, SHIELD arrives with a Helicarrier and War Machine, which allow them to beat Ultron’s army of drones and save more citizens.
Sunset Shimmer: However, Ultron steals a Quinjet and starts shooting at the Avengers. He takes aim at Hawkeye and a boy he was rescuing, but Pietro sacrifices himself to save them.
Nick: Wanda becomes enraged and starts to destroy Ultron Drones, but one of them manages to get the city to start falling down.
Sunset Shimmer: However, Iron Man and Thor destroy the device, and the small country breaks apart.
Nick: Vision also confronts the last Ultron Drone and destroys him.
Sunset Shimmer: Afterwards, Hulk and Iron Man leave the Avengers, Thor goes to Asgard to learn more about the Infinity Stones.
Nick: Captian America and Black Widow also make a new Avengers team, made of Falcon, Wanda (now Scarlet Witch), and War Machine.
Sunset Shimmer: The end credits scene shows Thanos gaining the Infinity Gauntlet, claiming that he will get the rest of the Infinity Stones himself.
Pros:
Ultron was a very interesting villain, he seemed almost like is Tony Stark was a villain.
We learn more about Black Widow and Hawkeye
In one scene, Vision picks up Mjolnir and hands it to Thor, which is hilarious
Pietro’s death was a bit rushed, but at least he died a hero
All of the foreshadowing to Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2
Cons:
This movie kind of glosses over the fact that Iron Man retired in Iron Man 3

Moto Europa Motorcycle Shop, St. Foalis, September 18, 1989
Ponies from New Mexico moved into our town to sell stolen motorcycles. They would also steal some from Moto Europa, so me, Shawn, and Bob were put there to work undercover. For each pony we arrested for stealing one of the motorcycles, we got an extra grand in our paycheck. The police department was paying us 20 grand a week, but some of us felt like we could use the extra cash.

Ponies from New Mexico moved into our town to sell stolen motorcycles. They would also steal some from Moto Europa, so me, Shawn, and Bob were put there to work undercover. For each pony we arrested for stealing one of the motorcycles, we got an extra grand in our paycheck. The police department was paying us 20 grand a week, but some of us felt like we could use the extra cash.
