Scarlet's Side.

I heard something in the brush. I cautiously crept toward where the noise came from. I moved some foliage and branches out of my way and peered into the small opening in the forest.
What I saw shocked me. It was something, but I don't know what to call it.
What I saw big creature with the body of a Pegasus with massive wings. The only thing that disturbed me was the colors on it and that it was eating something off the ground like a predator. I also noticed that there was also a terrible stench and I noticed it got strong the closer I got.
I recalled something Gale has told me about something crazy familiar to this exact thing from a book she got from the library. I tried to remember what it was.

2 years ago...

"Hey Scarlet!" Gale called from the kitchen.
"Yeah?" I answered walking down the stairs.
Gale got out an old book and opened it. "Check this out!"
I walked up to her tilting my head to see the book better.
She flipped thought the pages and pointed to something on that page. I walked around instead of tilting my head and looked at the picture. It looked like a griffon but with weird colored dots on it and it had a part of pony on it.
"What about it?" I asked uncertain of what to think.

I took a step forward to get a closer look at what it was eating. I was too concentrated on the creature, I stepped on a twig...
*Snap* went the twig.
"Shit..." I whispered lifting my hoof back off the ground.
The thing turned for a second and then bolted around a tree and sprinted off.
"Hey you!" I called out.
I didn't see the odd tree root in front of me until I hit the ground with a thud. My chin hit the ground and I but my tough badly.
"Uggghhh" I groaned as I felt the pain of my teeth and my tough.
I slowly got up full of pain and picked up my stuff with my hooves. It was a little harder to grasp the book with my hoofs but I couldn't use my mouth.
After a few moments of picking up my belongings, I had to check my tough and then bandaged it up. Luckily, I had a good box of bandages and other supplies for injuries. Sadly, I looked funny with it on but I'm sure it will heal soon and I'll be able to talk and use my mouth normally again.
Just before setting off to get that creature, a scent hit my nose hard. It reeked and I covered my nose with my hoof and looked for the source of the stentch. Was in the opening of the

something out of the corner of my eye. I turned to see what it was. Shouldn't have done that.
The next thing I did was I swung my head back around and threw up all over the grass.
"God damn!" I shouted.
My head was turned slightly away from it and my eyes were closed tightly. It was a corpse, I thought to myself. Just a small animal's corpse. I started to feel sick and terrible. I was a little woozy from the perfumes of the corpse and my own vomit. I could barely tell what it was before, but it looked like a rabbit or squirrel.
When I finally got the guts, I slowly opened one eye, then the other trying not to vomit all over again. There was something different with this thing. It was a mix between a pony and a griffon, meaning there had to be someway to talk to it.

The worst idea I have ever had and actually went through with was achieved today, but the curiosity was too strong. I followed the hoof and claw prints it made. Galloping hard to try and catch it. I followed the tracks it had left but I had to remember it has wings, meaning that it could fly and I'd lose track of it. I thought of questions in my head that I had no answers to it, like how it became whatever it is, or what it would be considered as.
I also kept thinking in my head why I was doing this, why did I want to follow this thing. The thing that was eating that dead animal? I gave myself reasons for each one of those questions. There was obviously something not right.
Through the time I walked and flew across the forest following the prints until they started fading and disappeared. I had to go to the ground and basically put my face in the ground to see the prints.
As I followed it, it became late and I had barely any confidence that I would catch up to it. I didn't know how far I had traveled or how deep in the jungle I was. I was getting tired and my head hurt from all the fumes in the forest which was very musty. I sat down by a large tree and just sat there for a while to take a rest. My last thought I had before I drifted to sleep was what I had gotten myself into and how was I going to get out?

I woke up to a rain drop that fell right on my nose. It was pretty dark and I'm pretty sure it wasn't night because the sun was still up, but it was covered by storm clouds. I wondered what storm in the Everfree forest is like but I don't really need to, nor want to find out.
I got up and started looking around for some shelter which, which I suspected there would be none in a deserted part of Equestria... I was pretty done for when I saw a branch and a few leaves fly by at an unwelcoming speed past my face. The next thing I knew was that a massive gust of wind blew. I stumbled for a bit and then fell over. I looked up and there was a huge dark cloud reaching out as if it were going to lay on top of the whole forest. I started running the opposite way.

The next thing I knew, I was looking into its dark red eyes. We stared at each other for a few minutes. I don't know what he was thinking and I didn't really want to know. Its face was so pensive and hard to tell what was going on in it's mind.
