In my opinion, music is a way of conveying your feelings towards a particular subject. Virtually every song has SOME sort of purpose or meaning to it when you think about it.
Rave songs are meant to make you feel energetic.
Speed metal makes you want to do the mile.
Love songs are meant to make you in a romantic mood (or even horny, in some cases. XD)
Anime openings prepare you for an adventure
When I think of what music means to me, what first comes to mind is the way it has helped me with my anxiety, whether that’s directly (calming down/relaxing/energizing by listening to music) or indirectly (motivating me to do something with my love of music as a way of bettering myself). Coincidentally, that’s what led me to this site as well as a few more; I feel the need to somehow connect with others that enjoy the same music as me.
Music for me, ideally, is an escape and provides a sense of fellowship.
