Good one, chel1395! There are so many other great ones, too (Gone with the Wind, Wizard of Oz, Maltese Falcon, Thirteenth Warrior...the list goes on and on), but Curtis Hanson's masterpiece was the first one that jumped out at me.

Oliver Twist, it's a bit old but it's a classic!

As much as I love Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings, I think The Princess Bride had the best film adaptation.

With HP and LOTR, I would be just as happy reading the books (indefinitely happier reading HP rather than watching, as a matter of fact)but with The Princess Bride, the movie is so many times better than the book. It was cute and entertaining rather than political and satirical.
