Well, I don't hate all remakes, Hollywood has been making them for a long time and there're some good ones (I like Ben Hur :p )

What I hate is that noways you go to the movies to watch a remake, a sequel or a prequel or whatever it is that tries to make money from a established brand. >_<

What I hate most are remakes of perfectly good movies! I mean the logic I see is that studios think because everybody liked the first one they'll watch this one again. And again, and again. And then they'll make it in 3d, so we can charge more (I hate 3d too, damn uncomfortable glasses...).

^ I agree. I hate when they remake great movies. Why mess with something that's already good in the first place? If they have to do remakes they should remake not-so-good movies to try and make them better. It pisses me off that they're remaking Dirty Dancing. It's a classic. Leave it alone! >:( lol

And it seems like every other movie now is either a remake, prequel/sequel, or a ripoff. I don't think it's because everything's already been done. I think it's just laziness. It's easier to remake (or rip off) something that's already been done than to try to come up with original ideas.

Remakes tend to be hit or miss, at least for me. There are some good ones, such as Planet of the Apes, Friday the 13th (very underrated), King Kong, and Clash of the Titans.

I wouldn't say I dislike the movies themselves (a lot I just choose not to watch) but the idea of remakes annoys me.

This is slightly selfish of me but I'm so glad that they haven't remade any of my favourite movies - if they do, I advise them to hide in a hole in the ground and not to come out for several years.

Sometimes they're okay, when a suckish movie had an interesting premise, or when an awesome movie was limited by the technology of its time.

I think it boils down to one thing. Are you going to bring anything new to it? I hate remakes which are just a carbon copy of the original just set in present day. Why bother? What they did with Psycho should be punished by law. You take a classic movie and basically crap all over it. I have seen some remakes where they stand on their own feet and amazingly come off as fresh and original. But I will admit they are few and far between.

I usually at least tolerate the horror remakes that come out, but I'm always annoyed by them at first. Why can't people have their own ideas?
