I HATE it when people have conversations in the middle of a movie! It drives me nuts! I especially hate it when someone asks "What just happened?" because they weren't paying attention and their friend just tells them the whole movie until that point! That's probably why I barely ever go to the movies and if I do decide to go it's a late showing!

If you asked me before I had children I would have said crying babies, but mine have cried in the theatre before. I think it annoys you a lot less if you have kids and understand that every baby cries in a theatre at least once.

I went to see a movie a few weeks ago and I can't even tell you what the movie was about. These four stupid teens were sitting right behind me, whispering through the whole thing. I think they bought the tickets just so they could have somewhere to talk. I asked them twice (politely) to stop talking, but they just kept going. At the end of the movie, I just went off on them. They look stunned, then everyone near me started applauding me. Apparently those kids hadn't just been annoying me :)

I would have picked annoying teens because they annoy me to no end especially when they kick the back of your chair! I know some people can't find a babysitter but I went to the movies a while back and all of a sudden a baby started wailing, it never ended and the mom just sat there! I get so annoyed just thinking of that day.

I had to think for a long time to figure out a bad thing about going to see a film in the theater. Finally I came up with this, as I've had to stand through many films in my life, and that's no picnic. Then I couldn't find a good picture, so I had to use one of papa's icons.

Just a note on a popular pick: As a parent who has taken babies to films, I can say that I'm sympathetic to others who do so...but if your baby starts to cry, pick it up and take it out of the house! I take babies with me to the theater because they sleep so peacefully through films; if they wake up, you've got to put them to sleep again immediately! I like to say that my son has seen Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Jurassic Park 3, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, as well as a bunch of others, but it's a joke, really: he slept through all of them (babies tend to sleep better with lots of bass, which is a given in action films).

I would never take a child to the theater who would be awake during the film, unless the film was one that was age-appropriate. But we've probably all had the experience of parents bringing toddlers to the theater for R-rated movies. A good friend of mine told me how two 7-year olds sitting next to him in the theater were dropped off by a parent to see Pan's Labyrinth! Not only was that way inappropriate for their age, but they didn't even have an adult with them to help them with the trauma of what they were seeing. YIKES!

marissa, there are theaters that have "baby-friendly" showtimes for the moms to bring their babies and enjoy a movie. I don't know why there aren't more theaters that do that.

You pay to see a movie. And most cinemas are fairly pricey (at least around where I live). So why, for the love of God, would you talk all the way through a movie that you supposedly WANT TO SEE. It drives me absolutely insane!!

I hate kids/teens in movies, because when they're talking throughout the whole movie, I find it usually indicates they don't actually understand what's going on and only went to see it because the trailer was overplayed on TV. Then they usually make their smartass comments and have no sense what the movie is really about. And THEN they kick the back of your chair! Hate it so much!

That and cellphones going off... and people talking on them. It says right at the beginning too, turn off your cell phone!

And I'm sorry, but going to the movies is not a divine right, and if your kid cries AT ALL, then you screwed up my movie. Same if your damned cell phone rings. Turn off the phone, get a sitter for the baby.

^^^Wow that is a little harsh don't ya think? I mean they are not crying to make you mad. Now chattering teens on the other hand know what they are doing when they are talking during movies.
The only time I bring my babies to the theater is when they were infants and sleeping through the whole thing (yes they have woken up but I take them out until they are back asleep), but I can respect people who don't have the luxury of having a babysitter. I mean I honestly can't see the issue as long as the person with the crying child doesn't let them cry through the whole thing. I mean if they give it a minute and the baby stops crying then what is the big deal.

I get the thing with babies, since I've been through it with my little siblings. (It's not there fault)

I usually bring my own food, except the popcorn and don't exactly care when people get up to go pee.

But the bleeping teens are so annoying. For Pete's sake, shut up. I remember this one time I was watching Eragon(I'm a fan of the book :) ] and these god forsaken teens would not shut up. They were sooo ARGGGGGGGGGGG! They kept making these stupid ass comments like whe he took off his shirt "DAMN HE'S SO HOTTT" or when the dragon hatched "AWWWWWWWWWWWWW". I would be fine with it, if they didn't yell it. They also(THEY DID THIS, I SWEAR) jumped up in their seats and started climbing and jumping over the seats in the front section. They JUMPED the seats, while the movie was PLAYING. Then they started texting. OMG! Then texted while jumping over the seats.!!! I finally got pissed enough to yell at them. I swore only once. O:)

EclecticFan78 picked People who think it's okay to text during a movie.:
I really could go on and on about the many things that tick me off about going to the movies, but this one takes the cake.
People think since it's quiet that texting is okay to do. WRONG! To the people behind you it is like shinning a flashlight into our eyes while trying to concentrate with what is on the big screen. If I had my way I would put up a scrambler to block all cells once in a theater. Honestly, if you are in a movie you don't need to be in contact with the outside world because you ruin the whole point of going to the movies in the first place. TO ESCAPE.
As for talking in the movies I can't really put blame on chattering teens as I've been in theaters with adults that are just as bad. Sometimes it's the elderly having to explain plot points to one another or simpley just very rude adults.
Another thing is when people come late to a movie and they expect you to move so they can sit together. Seriously? I mean if you know the movie is going to be packed you should get there as early as the other patrons who wish to claim their sits before the theater fills up. Don't expect to incovienece me just cause you can't get to a show on time.
As for babies crying, well, they should be taken out when they get unruley. However, I think the parents really should try to get a babysitter. When I see toddlers going into movies such as Saw or Hostel it really makes me sick.
Sorry folks, said I wasn't going to go off on all the things that tick me off but I guess I couldn't help it.

The only time you should bring a phone to the movies if you are being dropped off.

Anyways, I really HATE people talking during movies. The only voices we should hear are from the movie, for crying out loud! People are here to see the moive, not to hear you talk about your money troubles or someone in your family went to jail. Shut up and watch. If you are going to talk, let me tell you something: STAY HOME!
