2018 had some really good films that are worth talking, so this list is about my personal favorite films of the year. Two honorable mentions go out to the direct to DVD animated film Batman: Gotham by Gaslight and the Aardman film Early Man.

10. Sherlock Gnomes

Sherlock Gnomes is an animated sequel to 2011's Gnomeo and Juliet. I like the 2011 film, but I like this film more. That's thanks to Johnny Depp who shows off his voice acting skills as the title character. The film also has my favorite actress, Emily Blunt. Hearing two of my favorite celebrities in the same film was a real treat. Also, the film has a fun villain.

9. Suicide Squad: Heck to Pay

I purposely spelled one of the film's title words incorrectly, because it's not exactly a family friendly film. However, this film is surprisingly emotional. Deadshot and Bronze Tiger's character arcs very well done, especially Deadshot. The film has some immature humor, but it's the compelling character work makes it worth watching.

8. Teen Titans Go to the Movies

Teen Titans Go is an over hated, fun show that got a film. Although the lack of character stuff for Robin's team members was disappointing, the film has several entertaining scenes, good songs, and fun animation. Slade is a really cool, scene stealing villain who's greatly voiced by Will Arnett and Nicolas Cage is a delightfully eccentric Superman.

7. Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave and the Bold

The first couple of Scooby-Doo/Batman crossovers, from the 1970s, were comedy gold. This film isn't quite as good as those specials, but it's a super entertaining film that's good for both parents and their kids. Several DC superheroes and villains show up and get memorably fun stuff to do. The Riddler gets a very well written role and Joker and Penguin get involved in one of the funnest chase scenes ever done.

6. The Grinch

I'm a big fan of the Grinch franchise, so I was glad that another Grinch film was coming out. This is one of the cutest films of the year. Cindy Lou Who is one of the most admirable and sweetest characters of the year and this version of the Grinch is gentle and oddly loveable. One of the biggest feel good films of the year.

5. Batman Ninja

I was super excited to hear that a Batman anime film was being made. This film is one of the most beautiful looking films that I've ever seen. Batman Ninjas has an incredbly cool version of both Batman and Catwoman and they make an awesome duo. It's delightfully eccentric, unique, and gorgeous.

4. Aquaman

Aquaman is a superhero that I've always liked, but I considered him a more humorous type of character. This film showed that Aquaman's actually a really cool character. He's a funny character too, but not funny in the sense that he's lame or anything like that. Jason Momoa does an excellent job at playing and makes the film a great experience. Black Manta is a really cool looking villain who I want to experience more of in the sequel.

3. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

The first Fantastic Beasts film was decent, but this is the one that's truly worth watching. Johnny Depp gives one of the most amazing acting performances ever as Grindelwald. His character is captivating and awesome. A very clever, exciting film that has me looking forward to the 3rd film.

2. Johnny English Strikes Again

Making a great film usually requires having a brilliant plot, excellent characters, and strong emotions. This film challenges that notion by having one of the greatest actors of all time, Rowan Atkinson, be an absolutle blast to watch throughout the entire film. This film has a decent plot and supporting cast, but Mr. Atkinson's amazing, one a kind acting is what makes this one of the best comedy films of all time.

1. Marry Poppins Returns

I was expecting to like this film, because it has my favorite actress, Emily Blunt. However, the film turned out to be far more amazing than I thought it would be. This is the most optimistic, biggest feel good film of the year. It's a beautiful and heartwarming film that teaches how to deal with the loss of a loved one in respectable and helpful ways. Emily Blunt's performance is Oscar worthy. Her version of Mary Poppins is about as cool and witty as humanly possible. Colin Firth plays a great love to hate type of villain and David Warner, one of the best actors ever, has a fun, recurring role in the film. If you only see one film from the year of 2018, I recccomend Mary Poppins.
