Monster High Question

What irritates you most about MH?

Yes, this should be a pick since its not fact based, but I want lists, not what irritates people the most.

1. The fanbase. Most of the people don't bother me, its just those young brats that think any criticism of their work = cyber bullying! On the same note...

2. Half-assed OCs. RESEARCH before you make! Look for real weaknesses the real monsters have. And please don't make sisters/brothers to canon characters. It's just lazy.

3. Putting Dracu-, Howl-, Clawd-, and similar into names of OCs. Its annoying, kinda stupid, and bothers the historian in me. Dracula was already given the name as he was the son of a man called "Dragon", so technically his kids should be called after his name, the Impaler. Which sounds way cooler, IMO.

4. The book. I can't stand that thing. It's cliche, it's full of Mary Sue's, it has product placement that's already irrelevant. I don't like the book, nor do I like Harrison in general.

5. People claiming the book came first and dolls are based on it. No, it didn't. Mattel hired Harrison to do the books, not the other way around.

6. Clawdeen's fashions lately. She's not going anywhere in the fashion world if she continues to dress the way she's been dressing.

7. The love the younger fans have for Heath. I dated a Heath. Not a nice guy. Very narcissistic, didn't really care about me unless he wanted something. Not a guy I'd date again in a million years.

8. The CGI. I think its horrid and can't stand it.

I think I've ranted enough. What are some of the things you hate about MH?

I have to agree with the books being terrible. I just hate the way it makes everyone sound like they're spoiled and bratty.

Also the doll quality lately. The Meowlody and Puresephone dolls come with NO stand, or a pet and only 1 diary. It also irritates me that they combined the bio, and the diaries.

Same with the OC's, all of them are mostly vampires or werewolves. It seems even lazier when they just repaint a screencap or just a character's hair and claim it to be theirs.

Did you read the books? They don't have anything to do with the webisodes

*Claps* Thank you November - you just took all the complaints that I had in my head, and wrote them out unto this answer.

Out of everything this fandom has to offer, the fans have to be the most annoying, in my personal opinion. I bring back a few of the points you mentioned: they think every critique is some form of "bullying" or "hating". Please, if I wanted to 'hate' your character, I would have told you the full-plain-truth. (I wouldn't have bullshitted slightly to tell you how to improve your already crappy-ass character)

Most people I don't even bother saying anything to because I know if you insult their "precious" character, they're going to flip-their-shit and make sure whatever you said, will make them feel like a victim of some sort. (this isn't the only fandom with fucked-up fans, but I think it's the most popular)

People take advantage of the whole idea that this [Monster High] is based off of: creating a spawn of some infamous monster/creature. They think just because something is recognized as "deadly" or "monstrous" (by either the media, or hearsay) that they think they can make ch aracters based off of them. (for say - making a daughter of Andrea Yates because she drowned her three children in the bathtub and the media claimed her to be "insane" and a "monster".

Sometimes, when someone actually makes a decent character, theyr think to themselves, "Hey, maybe I should write a fan fiction!" But then, their story ends up being half-asses, Mary Sue crap, similar to something like, "My Immortal".

I can stand the books, (and, it's literature - if someone wants me to "read", I can just pick that up and make it look like I'm doing something) I have to agree with Harrisson's lack of skills that she has for writing; her previous book series (before she 'wrote' Monster High) was the "Cliques"...just the title can put you off :P

And for the Heath thing: completely agree! How come this egotistical hot-head has become popular all of a sudden? I never liked him in the first place, and never will. If it were up to me, I would make some more male characters - which this fandom is in desperate need for.

I'm also in agreement with the CGI. I think Mattel's just gotten lazy and said, "The hell with making hundreds and well thought out, decent looking story-boards and sketches, let's just do it on the computer! like we did with Winx Club!" *Headesk* We all know how well that turned out...

*curtsies* Thank you! I've been meaning to post this for a few days now, but needed to get those thoughts organized. I actually do do that no pay attention thing. it gets annoying weeding out the good ones though. "My Immortal" that perfectly describes most fanfics in this fandom: incoherent. I read the Clique, see previous sentence. I'm in a few fandoms overrun with little kids, and I have to agree this one is the worst.

You're welcome ;) Exactly; it's just a waste of my time just to browse the internet to actually find a decent character that someone made. (I cannot stand knock-offs either - which is basically what Frankie is) Exactly, thank you. Most of the time you see stories that wre about their character falling in love with a canon. (in turn making their girlfriend/boyfriend act completely out of character just so you can have it "your way") Others are just made up on a bad plot that is just begging to be stamped with the "Mary Sue" seal of approval! I am, asl well. This one has to be the worst (as of now) when it comes to fan behavior and characters.

No Lisa Harrison wrote the books first about Melody who is a made up character and Frankie who was also a made up character. The books were selling really good so Lisa got a agreement with Mattel that let them make dolls and webisodes to promote these creatures for money and help advertise Lisa's books she did not write them off Mattels stupid characters- in the book everything is different Jackson does not have Holt inside him but meerly has DJ who comes out when Jackson sweats.Melody waas not even used by mattel and is one of the main characters in Lisa Harrisons books she is a bird person why not use her? but tht is a statement in itself that prooves Mattel did not start this. Also in the books it takes place in Oregon among the Normies and in the webisodes it takes place at Monster high a place where normies seem to be "scarce" and in the book it isn't even Monster High its Merston High which if you unscramble turns to Monster. If you don't like tht Lisa is making books that people like then why don't you tell her yourself unstead of complaining on monster highs "fan page" where everyone likes monster high books and all. So stop complaining pull out those books and start refreshing yourself mister.

No, MH was Mattel's idea, Lisi was HIRED to write the books, which are godaweful Mattel does not use Melody because she belong to Lisi, and they would have to pay her royalties for using her character. Not every one likes the books, some people like the dolls and/or cartoons. I have every right to complain, and its you who needs educating about how royalties work, apperently.
