While Chris Martin was kissing up to Paul McCartney and Kanye West was showing off his mullet onstage at tonight’s Grammy Awards, Rolling Stone was hanging out backstage and in the press room at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where newcomers like Miley Cyrus, Adele and Carrie Underwood rubbed shoulders with legends like Paul McCartney, B.B. King and the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart.

It was the kind of environment that made stars want to open up, and Cyrus happily confessed her crush on Kings of Leon’s bassist Jared Followill. “He’s pretty good looking,” she said. “I’m not usually one to freak, but me and Taylor [Swift] last night were like, ‘Holy smoke!’ ” Don’t expect the two teen pop stars to hook up with the Kings anytime soon, though: “Katy Perry was like, ‘They have super hot girlfriends.’ I was like, ‘Dang it!’ ”

A more jovial Paul McCartney joked with reporters about the Beatles’ relatively modest Grammy haul. “I’m very annoyed,” he said. “I didn’t come here to win it. I’ve come to be in it!”

Later on, RS caught up with another jokester — Adele — after she came offstage with her Best New Artist win. “I was ecstatic and really shocked,” she said. “It’s surreal. I got a little emotional.” The British neo-soul singer admitted to getting teary onstage, but says she fought the emotions by admitting to her crush on the Jonas Brothers, who she beat in the category. “I just tried to keep it together and make a joke,” she said. As for her afterparty plans, Adele said she was going to take it easy. “I’ve stopped drinking so I’m just hanging out with my friends tonight,” she said. Her reason for hopping on the wagon? “For mental reasons, so I do my work and don’t forget to wake up in the morning.”

Ben Gibbard — whose band Death Cab for Cutie was nominated for Best Rock Song (”I Will Possess Your Heart”) and Best Alternative Album (Narrow Stairs) — didn’t think his group stood a shot for winning, but he was happy to be there nonetheless. “I don’t feel like we should be in the category with these amazing bands who I respect,” he said, referring to fellow nominees like Beck, Gnarls Barkley, My Morning Jacket and Radiohead in the category of Best Alternative Album. “So it’s nice to be mentioned in the same breath.” The Dead’s Mickey Hart shared a similar sentiment: “It’s not about the Grammys. It’s about feeling good about yourself and making music with other people. It’s not a horse race,” he said after winning Best Contemporary World Music Album for his Global Drum Project.

And Robert Plant told the gathered reporters, “This is the most remarkable liaison I’ve been involved in. I couldn’t believe what we’d done.”

Earlier in the press room, Will.i.am was in a cheerful mood and jested about the area’s overabundance of PCs instead of Macs, quipping, “That’s not cool, folks!” But other stars were more sober: Carrie Underwood said she was stoked to watch Jennifer Hudson sing on the backstage monitors. “She’s handled the media attention with such grace and it was amazing to see her get onstage and see that healing process,” she said of Hudson, who has recently stepped back into the spotlight following the murders of her mother, brother and nephew.

And B.B. King — who would go on to score his 15th win for “One Kind Favor” in the category of “Best Tradtional Blues Album” — took a serious moment to reflect on the state of the country. “I believe the blues, the way things are today, is more important now than it ever was,” he said. “Unless you got a lot of money. I don’t.”

Snoop Dogg worked with Miley Cyrus on the song “Ashtrays & Heartbreaks.” During an interview with the Huffington Post, Snoop Dogg spoke about working with Miley, and he mentioned that she is no longer in a relationship with Liam Hemsworth.

I can’t speak for her, ya know what I’m saying? But I know that she has a relationship that no longer exists. I know she’s probably in a transformation change with her life, her music [and] her career. She’s 20 years old and she’s an awesome artist to work with. She knows what she wants in life. I feel like maybe this is a time for her to take charge like I’m taking charge.
So, are Miley and Liam really broken up? Miley was seen wearing her engagement ring one day this week, but it was off last week, so we’re confused!
One Direction can add yet another loyal female fan to its army of thousands — Miley Cyrus. The 19-year-old singer declared she is “obsessed” with Zayn Malik, spending hours trolling the internet to find out information on the teen idol. The “Party in the U.S.A” singer took to Twitter to declare that the 19-year-old Brit was her new crush. What made her declare her love for the young boy bander? Cyrus was on a Twitter spree on Friday after a sleepover with some of her friends.

@MileyCyrus Feel like I’m hangin with a 13 year old girl when I have sleepovers with gays! Weve spent an...

I’ve been stranded on a lonely street
Got lost in the shadows fell hard in the battle
Heard cries and the suffering
Walked through the darkness left broken and heartless
I’m calling out can you hear my voice
I’m gonna find you through all the noise
You know there’s nothing that I wouldn’t do
Shine your light as I reach for you
My heart beats for love
My heart beats for love
It’s the sound that I hear tells me not to give up
It breathes in my chest and it runs through my blood
My heart beats for love
My heart beats for love
Whoa yeah
I’ve been told at least a thousand times
It’s not worth the...

Her hair was a huge part of the equation: The curly bob was elegant but not fussy.

While the rest of the world was paying attention to Angelina Jolie’s sexy right leg at the Oscars (and rushing to follow its inevitable Twitter feed), we were poring over images from Vanity Fair‘s annual Oscar bash and couldn’t stop looking at Miley Cyrus. She’s always been cute, from her Hannah Montana days on, but this was one of those put-her-on-the-beauty map moments. WOW. She nailed it! This was a whole new Miley and we love it. We were fixated on how glamorous and grown up the 19-year-old looked.

In two weeks the last season of Hannah Montana will come out in the USA, but Miley has already left her innocent Hannah days behind her.

Miley's latest performances in Rock in Rio in Lisbon and Madrid have caused lots of people to wonder, where is the sweet Hannah Montana? Where are the jeans and t-shirts? Looks like she left all that behind and is now going for low cut outfits more in the style of Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera.

Miley has got a lot of flack for this new image that she is presenting to the wold. But she has defended herself, saying that just because she is looking a little harder and sexier, doesn't mean that she is a rebel into dangerous things.

Miley knows that she is being criticized but she doesn't care. She said that she isn't going to be what everyone else wants her to be, but instead will follow her her and be herself.
Word is that after her controversial dancing video has leaked to the web, Miley Cyrus has been warned by ABC to keep her performance of her new song “Can’t Be Tamed” clean on Tuesday’s “Dancing With The Stars” show.

This will be the first time Miley has performed “Can’t Be Tamed” live, and there has already been a lot of controversy surrounding the music video for the song – some saying she is dressed too scandalous for her age, others saying that doesn’t matter, but many realizing that young girls look up to her, leading to questions about whether or not Miley should take...

I hopped off the plane at LAX
With a dream and my cardigan
Welcome to the land of fame access (Whoa)
Am I gonna fit in
Jumped in the cab here I am for the first time
Look to my right
And I see the Hollywood sign
This is all so crazy
Everybody seems so famous

My tummy's turnin'
And I'm feeling kinda homesick
Too much pressure
And I'm nervous
That's when the taximan turned on the radio

And a Jay Z song was on
And a Jay Z song was on
And a Jay Z song was on

So I put my hands up
They're playing my song
The butterflies fly away
Noddin' my head like "Yeah"
Movin' my hips like "Yeah"
I got my hands up
They're playing my...

I've been running in circles all day long
I'm out of breathe but I'm still going strong
I'm going to get you, yeah no matter what they say
You think I'm losing but I always get my way (Hey)

Don't walk away when I'm talking to you (Hey)
This ain't no time for your bad attitude (Ohh) (Hey)
Don't gimme (Don't gimme) that face (That face)
When you know I'm really down for the chase
'Cause my heart's already in it and I'm never gonna quit it
When you finally gonna get it
Don't walk away
(When I'm talking to you)

You act, act like that I don't have a clue
You think you know it all but I'm so on to you
You think...

Wake up here I go
Cram it all down my throat
Stomach's so full that I wish I could choke
Seven a.m., my head's
Already in a spin

As soon as I'm out that door, BAM
It hits me like a ton of those red bricks
Can't dig myself out of this highest ditch
This madness

I swear sometimes I can't tell
Which way is up, which way is down
It's all up in my face need to push it away
Somebody push it away
So all that I can hear
Is a simple song
Sing along now
La la la la la, la la la la
La la la la la, la la la la

Mid-day sun beatin' on the concrete
Burning up my feet, too many cars on the street
The noise, the red, the green...
