Dahlia's Flashback to when she and Michael first met
It was a summery day and the first day of school.I was so nervous."Mommy,what if I don't make friends?" I asked in the car on the way to school."Don't worry, you are a very sweet girl, I'm sure you'll make friends" My mom told me. I nodded hoping that what she is saying is true.My dad suddenly stopped the car and to my surprise, we were at my school.My stomach is having lots of butterflies as I got out of the car and into the school with my dad.As we got near the school, my dad said " Alright, this is it. I hope you have a wonderful first day sweetie". I tugged Dad's shirt, I don't want leave him."Don't worry, you'll be fine" My dad said.I begged and begged for him to not let me go.However to my fear, he lets me go and leaves me with tears forming in my eyes.My mom waved at me and said oblivious to the forming tears in my eyes, "Have a good day honey!" My dad got in the car and drove off.The tears were rolling down my cheeks when I didn't see them anymore.Then a teacher found me outside escorted me inside. We went to the lunchroom and students were sitting at their tables. The teacher and I arrived at a table and sat down.Every kid is talking to another except for me.I am shy and cautious, I don't just be buddy buddy with anyone.They're either best friend material or not.I have to have a connection with the person in order for me to open up.I have to be comfortable with that person.I have to find this person.Fast.I looked around the table and saw girls with ponytails and guys with buzz cuts.I have pigtails that my mom made.She put a cute headband that matches my outfit.My parents said I looked cute. Today is a day that I didn't know would be so emotional.Suddenly, a woman came to the center of the lunchroom and everyone got quiet."Good morning students and staff, I am Ms.Hershey the principal of this school.Welcome kindergarteners to where you'll grow and start to develop skills that you'll need for later in your life. I hope you'll feel comfortable with the staff and your teachers.I hope that you kids will have a fun,educational experience at this school! Have a good day kids!" Ms.Hershey announced. Then the teachers started filing out to their classes.The teacher commanded for my class to get up and to organize into two lines, a line for boys and a line for girls.I was the fourth to last person on the girls line.We were walking when the teacher stopped at a door. She unlocked it and then we went inside. There were tables of four.People sat next to people that they were talking with.I had nowhere to sit and got stuck with a table with two boys and a girl.I was sitting across a boy that smiled at me.I smiled back.Then everyone got silent and the teacher introduced herself."Hi everybody my name's Felicia Childress but call me Ms.Childress. I'll be your teacher for the school year.Where you guys sit will be your spot for the whole year.I suggest you all get to know each other if you don't know each other!"Everyone at my table sat in silence.Then the girl to my right in my table said"I'll go first. Hi my name's Paige." Then the boy to the right of the boy sitting across me said"Hi,my name is Henry" Then the boy sitting across looked at me and said"Hi, my name is Michael". I smiled at the hearing of his name.I've always liked the name Michael because of the meaning a gift from god."Ok, what is your name?" Michael asked me."Um my name is Dahlia" I shyly said."You're shy huh? I'm shy too" Michael said.Henry and Paige were talking to each other."So let's start with the basics. What do you like to do?" I asked. "Sing,dance,read, you?" Michael replied."I like to read and dance. I like to listen to my moms and dads records too" I said."Oh I like to listen to music too, I love music" Michael said." Me too" That's when we got connected with each other.Michael maybe the person I was talking about.
Michael's Perspective from the flashback (the part where he meets Dahlia)
My first day so far is kinda boring. I haven't made any friends yet and now I'm starting to think I'm not going to make any today.So the teacher walked us to a door that she unlocked.We all went inside.There were tables of four. Some people saw and automatically selected seats to sit.I randomly sat with a girl and a boy at first with having three people. Later, a girl came and sat across from me to make four.She looked nice and cute so I smiled at her to be nice.She smiled back.Then the teacher announced herself. I paid attention to the teacher halfheartedly. I wanted to get to know the girl across from me. Could she be my friend? Then the teacher said to get to know each other. Perfect.It was all quiet at my table. Then a girl sitting to the right of the girl across from me spoke."I'll go first. Hi my name's Paige".Then the boy right to me said "Hi my name's Henry". Then I spoke my name to particularly the girl across me."Hi my name is Michael".She smiled at my name.I asked for her name."Um my name is Dahlia" she shyly said. Dahlia is a nice name. "You're shy huh? I'm shy too" I said.I heard that Henry and Paige were chatting already like they knew each other.Maybe they did."So let's start with the basics.What do you like to do?"
