yes because he had an rare desiease called lupus which makes your hair fall out but it grows back though and when it did grow back it was mostly grey and michael didnt like growing old so he wore wigs to cover up his grey hair he switched from the super curly one to the regular straight one just to wear on an regular day the curly one was for special ocassions when he went out to partys or gatherings

I don't think he straight out wore a wig until the 2000's. I think he might've worn a hairpiece woven into his real hair to help hide the burn he got from the Pepsi commercial. But I think during the trials when he went to court it was a wig and when he announced his This Is It Tour it was a wig. But during the This Is It movie I think that was his real hair, not a wig.
