DOUBLE TROUBLE

Full House Twins are full-sized handfull as they make their first movie

Full House twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are all sugar and spice when the cameras are rolling - but things aren't always so nice when the half-pint pair decide to just be themselves. It's not that the little ladies have the devil in them -it's just that, like any other 5-year-olds, they can be a real handful when they decide to act their age. That's the low-down from insiders on the set of their hit TV show and charmed crew members who've spent the past couple of months in Vancouver helping the angelic imps shoot their first full-lenght flick. In To Grandmother's House We Go, which will air on ABC over the hollidays, the sisters play twins who try to give their mom a real Christmas vacation by running off to granny's house. But the jaunt goes astray when they're kidnapped and held for ransom by two hapless hoods who soon learn they've snatched themselves two tiny tempests of really big trouble. Their antics are much like their amusing behavior on the Full House set, where the carboncopy cuties have shared the role of Michelle since they were just 9 months old. "During several episodes this past season, Mary Kate was used in scenes where she got to pig out on cookies, cake and candy bars," reveals a Full House Source. "Ashley didn't say anything until an ice cream-eating scene came along. She was tired of being overlooked and demanded, 'When do I get something to eat?' "Another time they got in an argument over their co-star, John Stamos. He's very close to the girls and often take them to the zoo. "Once, after a rehearsal, they were waiting for John to take them for ice cream when they started to argue over who John liked best. Some of the cast and crew overheard them shouting; 'John likes me better.' John ran over and told them that he loved them both equally. "They have to be dressed exactly alike on the set, so the girls insist on dressing differently whenever they go out. Ashley loves pink and Mary Kate loves purple and blue. Whenever they go shopping with their mom they pick out their own clothes in their favorite colors." Mary Kate and Ashley are well-loved on the set of Full House. One of them had been due for the axe, but was saved when Stamos and their fans begged producers to reconsider. When the show started, the blond, blue-eyed babies were too young to do much more than look cute for the cameras. Now everyone agrees they are thorough professionals. "When one twin was having trouble with a scene," says a source on the TV movie, "the other twin would be very supportive talk to her and help until she got it right."

They're cuter than a pair of pearl buttons, but insiders say the mischievious misses -shown here shooting their first movie, To Grandmother's House We Go, in Vancouver- can still be quite a handful. On Full house they have to wear identical costumes because they alternate playing the role of Michelle. But now that they're in movies, Ashley gets to indulge her passion for pink while Mary Kate becomes a belle in blue.
