There's plenty of good manga out there, it would have helped if you could have said you're favourite genre or something so I could shorten down my list of possible suggestions.

Anyway, I'll make several suggestions, starting with my favourite:

Elfen Lied -
It's about a dangerous mutant girl (she has horns) who escapes from a research facility, but suffers (and survives) a bullet to the head which causes her to lose her memories and the only word her being able to utter is "Nyu". She wakes up on a beach and ends up living with the guy who finds her.
There is a lot of violence and blood and some nudity. (Not for younger audiences).

+Anima -
Set in a world where there are people with the ability to partially shapeshift into animals (eg grow wings). These people, known as +Anima, are outcast and feared by many. Four +Anima children, find themselves travelling together to find a place where they can live in peace.

The Voices Of A Distant Star -
A romance set in a future where humanity is at war with an alien race known as the Tarsians. A middle school girl joins the UN space army to fight these aliens, leaving her best friend behind. They exchange messages while they are apart, but as she travels further the time for a message to reach the other grows to days to months to years.

There you go three very different manga suggestions, I could do more but it's a lot of typing and I have other things I need to do. Hope you like them :)

Starprincess7 and animega have mentioned it so I thought I would second it (hmm... third it?).
Fairy Tail - It's about a world with magic. Mages join guilds in search of work, which can range from something simple like finding a lost item, to something ridiculously dangerous like defeating a monster.
The story revolves around the mages of the guild Fairy Tail, where they get up to a lot of unruly, destructive and frankly illegal things. The mages of Fairy Tail for the most part consider each other friends/family. This manga can be funny, high on morals and a very good read.

Monster Soul - This is a short manga, but good nonetheless. Set in a world where both humans and monsters inhabit, the story follows a group of monsters who try to make it so that humans and monsters can live together peacefully.

The World God Only Knows - In short (with as little spoilers as possible), spirits have escaped from hell and gone to Earth, they feed off of negative emotions of girls. Hell has sent demons to Earth to retrieve them. Each demon has partnered up with a human on Earth to help them capture the spirits.
Elsie, a "failure" of a demon, is also sent to Earth and gets partnered with Keima, an otaku dating sim-gamer. Keima must now "capture" the girls (make them fall in love with him), to force the spirits out of them.

Fairy Tail :) It has made me laugh and cry :) mostly laugh :)
