In my opinion,..i think they alll died..and they are alln heaven.
I totally could be wrong, but i think sooo.
They all seemed soooo happy at the end,..and together!
EVERYONE WAS TOGETHER AND HAPPY! it has to be heaven LMFAOO!

The end was a sort of funeral for Jack. The sideways timeline was a purgatory-type place, to prepare people to move on. As Christian said, some of the people there died before Jack, some after. This is why Kate said she had missed Jack so much - she had gone one to live the rest of her life without him. When Christian opened the doors, they all went on to heaven.

I just need to know when are they DEAD????????

All I know, is that ending was just EPIC. It was sooo touching <3

I think that they were all in an in-between place, waiting for everyone else to remember their lives and deaths so they could all move on together. The "sideways world" was their after-death time. Everything on the island had already happened in their actual lives (alive on island, dead in sideways). When they were all in the chapel they were about to move on to heaven or wherever with one another. As Christian said, they had all died at different times, but they were the most important thing in each others' lives; so they created a world where they could re-connect with each other so they could stay together. Jack was one of the last to accept his death and be ready to move on. The reason Farraday's mother didn't want Desmond to get her son to remember was because she wanted to stay living a perfect "life" wherein him and Widmore were still alive and a family with her. She wasn't ready to move on yet. Ben stayed cause he wasn't ready to go yet either. So, all the island stuff DID actually happen; but at the end they were all dead, even though it didn't show all of them dying. Some got to live out the rest of their lives naturally. Not all of them died on the island. ;) Complicated but awesome! Total LOL moment!

That's all that matters to me at the moment, whether I get the rest or not.

It was an inbetween, they died when the plane crashed and the Island was an inbetween, then they went to the Alt Universe and moved on the the afterlife.

I finally got the end. They all died in different moment and went to the sideways where they had to find each other and make themselves remember and let go so they can go to Heaven.

Remember that scene with Rose and Jack from 6x01 in the plane "It's okay you can let go now" this has to be right after he closed his eyes and died in the last scene of the End. I personally believe that all characters went to the sideways or should I call it "in-between world" in different moments, some of them , like Jin, Sun and Jack stayed there for a lot of time and built new lives without remembering the past (Jack marrying Juliet, Lock having a great relationship with his dad), others like Hugo and Kate were there for not such a long time and they weren't so different after all from what they were in the Pilot. But it won't make sense with the Rose and Jack scene. So maybe Jack just went directly to the Rose scene and everything that has happened before that in the sideways was just kind of given to him and he just knew it....I don't know if this makes sense. But either way it was all about remembering in the sideways, finding each other and letting go of their actual lives.

It was actually really amazing; this conclusion i came up after i rethought that lost symbolism is biblical, and the alternate reality is no other than Purgatory (process of purification before they enter heaven); and they need to let it go (some of them did not even know they already died yet).

In case you're wondering, everything that happened... happened. Some of them made it and left the island; Jack, Ben and Hurley stayed; People who died, they died on the island. And to our nature, we will die someday eventually; so where when everyone gathered at the very end means that everyone at that certain time already died and accepted their deaths (maybe except Ben and some other people we did not get to see).

So it's really over... I think i get the ending. Well i see the last season again in fall. I laughed and i cried but mostly i cried. Anyway i loved it all, the ending and LOST it self. I probely cry another few weeks but atleast i have the dvds.I will never ever, ever, ever foregt it.

The Island was real, everything that happened there was real.

The side-ways universe was the "in between" so that they could all be together before they moved on to heaven.

Everyone on the plane got to go home, Jack died on the island and Hugo & Ben died years later after looking after the island.

It was a good ending - Sawyer & Juliet AWWWW killed me! <333 I was SO happy - literally made the ep for me *squeeee* - BUT they didn't really explain anything about the island did they? lol oh well.

I like how the end focused on the characters because the show was about their jounrney.

Like the pick says, the island was their real life, while the alt was kind of like...a gray haven if you will. Them being brought to the island was chance for them to..redeem themselves, and to be ready when it did come time for their deaths. A sad, but perfect ending I think. <3

Sideways world was their in-between spot,for them to remember, and all the stuff on the island did happen.

They all died at different times,but couldn't move on till everyone was dead and everyone remembered. Because they are the most important people to each other.

It was very symbolic and beautiful.
I was a little upset at first,but now I find it to be quite suiting to Lost.

im sitll like WTF just happened? but reading others comments are helping me kinda make sence of it lol. but i still dont get how desmond could like see the sidewya world? is it cuz he was like dying when in the electromagnetism, so he entered some sort of limbo where he could be in the sideways world and the real world? lol idk. but uugh i just didnt want the sideways world to be a limbo, i wanted it to be real! like come on! just like kimmel said lol after all this time you want them to get some sort of life off the island all together, but they dont get it till their dead is just WTF?! lol

what happened on the island happened FOR REAL. the alternate timeline was a place where some souls of dead people go because they can't move on. But there, time doesn't really exist, that's why we saw the soul of jack and boone (who died earlier) and Sawyer (who left the island, which meansb he died later)... have i helped??

Just finished after major catch up. I almost can't stop crying...
