The films are good adaptations from the books, in my opinion, though there things that are either different or have been left out. They're pretty good anyway.

They changed a fair amount in adapting the book to a film. They had to - the book was considered to be one of those things that could never be adapted onto the big screen. Is it good by comparison? Yes. Some might argue that it's actually better than the book. Very few people will argue that the books are much better, if at all - and that's one of the reasons these are my favourite films of all time. It's one of the few that does justice to the source material, and takes it even further.
The books are a harder read than the films are to watch, but the story and characters are still excellent and it's a rewarding read. That's my opinion, anyway.

I'd argue that the books are better, but that's because in almost all cases the original source is the best. The first and third films are pretty true to the books, just cutting out a bit really. It's the second which alters the most.

There are some differencies between the books and the movies. I always prefer the books to the movie adaptations, but the Lord of the Rings is the exception. The story is great anyway, but the books are sometimes a bit tiring to read. The movies are fabulous. They have no flaws!

the film is good compared to the book and the other way around but some parts in the book are much more cruel like when pippin tries to escape in the book he gets whipped not in the film [ happy about that]
