Legend of the Seeker Question

Richard lives in Hartland right? isn't Hartland a land were magic does not exist? if so, how did Kahlan confess the solider at the cliff, and how did zed heal Richard and reveal the Sword of Truth?

Well, in the books, the boundaries were actually put up by Zedd when he was younger. The first boundary he put up was between D'Hara and the Midlands because he had just killed Darken's father and left Darken with horrible scars on his torso. After that, when he found out that his daughter was pregnant. He fled to Westland and put up the boundary for people who no longer wanted anything to do with magic. So, Westland can be affected by magic, its just that no one but Zedd was there to do the magic.
