Lady Gaga, JLS and Kasabian are among the acts who will perform at the Brit Awards next month, it was announced today.
The line-up details for the 30th anniversary ceremony come ahead of tonight’s shortlist announcement for which the runners and riders and will be revealed.
One performer who is unlikely to be celebrating is global star Susan Boyle, who is reported to have failed to make the list of nominations, which will be unveiled tonight.
It will be a second appearance at the Brits for US act Lady Gaga, who had last year’s biggest selling single with her chart-topper ‘Poker Face’. In 2009 she accompanied the Pet Shop Boys but when she plays at Earls Court in London this year she will be solo.
Other performances include a collaboration between Dizzee Rascal and last year’s Critics’ Choice winner Florence And The Machine, who will be performing Dirtee Love.
The event – officially titled The Brit Awards 2010 with MasterCard – is the biggest night in the UK music calendar.
Nominations will be announced at a launch party at the IndigO2 venue at London’s O2 Arena tonight hosted by Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton, at which hotly tipped newcomer Ellie Goulding and chart acts La Roux and Pixie Lott will perform.
Goulding has already won this year’s Critics’ Choice title which will be presented at the event next month.
Robbie Williams is already assured of at least one Brit win this year as the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award.
Boyle however has failed to make the ‘best female’ award list, according to the Daily Mail. ‘The Britain’s Got Talent’ runner-up faced a strong year for female acts in a category which has often been considered rather weak.
Ged Doherty, chairman of The Brits Committee, said of the line-up for the Brits show on February 16: “These acts are young, vibrant and hugely talented. Each brings something different to the Brits party.”
