Recently on July 4, Pentatonix (my fave group) gave a performance for the celebration and while they have received many positive reviews (which is great)) but if you saw my mini rant in my wall, I was not particularly thrilled.

Here's why:

1. The backup singers. Why? They don't need them and I swear they were singing louder than PTX. I couldn't even hear Kevin.

2. The song choice. Here's what puzzled me. PTX has a new album, they have been marketing so why are they singing a song from their Christmas album? I mean I love Seasons of Love but it's July! Why not sing something else?

3. The venue. Okay, I get that traveling, right now is an issue but a high rise building at night surrounded by other buildings covered in graffiti doesn't scream July 4th, it does shout New Years, though. I really wish they had at least been in a park or something.

4. The clips. During the performance there were clips of couples and children being happy and running around and it was not only a distraction but also it reminded me of a political ad. Tbh, this had never been done before so it was quite a surprise and an awkward one. It felt like a PSA.

Honestly, I love PTX and always will and despite everything they did an awesome job (minus the distractions). But tbh, I blame PBS and they should be ashamed for not only the cheap distractions but also upstaging the group with backup singers (which they do not need!) (EVER!!!!) So, shame on them and hopefully next year will be better.
