How about the unforgettable Royalty of Lee Sun Hee (이순희), the undeniable Uhm Jung Hwa (엄정화), the extremely underrated Taru and of course, the unpretentious Kan Mi Youn (강미연)!!
Yes, K-pop has become a formulated saccarine sweet that has saturated all that drinks the kool-aid. But if you dig deeper, you will find what it is that you are looking for...
As for me, some of the greatest music I never heard is coming out of Korea...
