Act 1, Scene 1

    Two twins, alike in all. Eyes of blue, hair of blonde, one called Larxene, the other Roxas. Of noble birth were they, but content with their life were they not. They wanted adventure and together set out on the journey that is our story.....

    They boarded a ship to take them across the sea from their home country to an allied country they had heard of. As they sailed, a storm of great power capsized their boat. The first parting of the twin since birth, pulled them far away from each other. Their last desperate cries unheard.
    Larxene opened her eyes on unfamiliar shores. Her gown in tatters, she looked around. Finally she saw a person she knew, Xigbar, the captain of the ship she had been on. “What country friend, is this?” She asked weakly. The captain helped her to her feet. “This is Illyria, lady,” Xigbar replied. Larxene grew worried, she had never heard of Illyria. “And what am I to do in Illyria? My brother is far away-- Perchance he's not drowned-- What think you?” Xigbar thought this over as he helped her gather some of the useful things that had washed up on shore. They headed inland. “It is perchance that you yourself were saved,” Xigbar stated sadly. Larxene held back her tears, “Oh! My poor brother! And so perchance, may he be saved also.” They found a small cave and built a fire before it got dark. “True, Madam. And to comfort you with chance, assure yourself, after our ship did split, When you and those poor number were saved too, I saw your brother. He was most provident in peril, both hope and courage teaching him the practice in danger. He held acquaintance with the waves for as long as I could see.” This made Larxene feel a bit better. “Mine own escape unfoldeth to thy hope. For which thy speech serves for authority. Knowest thou this country?” she questioned. “Aye Madame, well. For I was bred and born not three hours travel from this very place.” Xigbar informed her. “who governs here?” Larxene asked. “A noble duke in nature as in name,” said Xigbar. “What's his name?” Larxene was curious. She wanted to know as much as she could about this strange country. “Marluxia.” Larxene remembered that name, “Marluxia! I've heard my father mention him, he was a bachelor then.” Xigbar nodded “and so is now, but recently he doth seek the love of fair Namine.” Larxene puzzled over this for a minute, then the sound of a carriage going bye could be heard and Larxene looked out from the cave. In the carriage was a petite woman , with pale hair and even paler skin. She wore a white dress. She seemed to be crying. “What's she?” Larxene asked. Xigbar looked to where Larxene pointed, “Why, that's Madame Namine.” Larxene was worried by her tears, “Why mournest she?” Xigbar's expression grew sad, “She is the daughter of a count who died some twelve months ago. He left her in the protection of his son, her brother, who shortly also died.” Larxene thought of Roxas. “For the dear love of her brother, they say, she hath sworn off all sight and company of men,” Xigbar finished. “Oh, that I might serve that lady and not be delivered to the world...” Larxene thought allowed. “That were hard to compass, for she will allow no king of suit.” Xigbar explained. Larxene had to think of something... she needed a place to stay, and money... how else would she survive? She suddenly got an idea.” She looked to Xigbar, “There is a fair behavior in thee, and, though that nature with a beauteous wall doth oft close in pollution, yet of thee I will believe that thou hast a mind that suits with this thy fair and outward character,” Larxene paced as her idea developed further and further, “I prithee, and I will pay the bounteously. Conceal me what I am and, be my aid. For, such a disguise shall haply become the form of my intent. You shall go with me to Marluxia, and present me as a eunuch to him!” Xigbar was surprised by this strange idea. Larxene could tell he was wavering. “It shall be worth thy pains! For, I can sing! And speak to him and many sorts of music that will make me very worth his service! Please, give no more thought to it. Only shape thou silence to my wit.” Xigbar thought it over, then sighed, “My Lady, be you his eunuch and your mute I'll be . When my tounge blabs, then let mine eyes not see.” Larxene smiled. “I thank thee! Lead me on.”
