was there any real point in xion?

Well, Xion was created by Vexen to gradually steal the traits and memories of Sora, so that in time, she would BECOME Sora, but the Xion-Sora would work for the Organization and collect hearts for Kingdom Hearts

As a result though, since she needed to become Sora, she had to destroy Roxas, gradually or not, because he had a part of Sora in him. This process also slowed down Namine's procedure of fixing everyone's memories that were connected to Sora.

There was a point. It has to go with the title "358/2 days." "358" deals with Roxas's days in the organiztion. The "2" part deals with Sora has two nobodies. Xion and Roxas. If there was no Xion, then there wouldn't wouldn't be any problems. Maybe because Xion had an exincnce had to do with something in the future too.

Heh, maybe there was no reason for her existence but, I sort of doubt that. She may have just been around for Roxas to have character development or to cock-block. I'm hoping the actual reason is better than those two. But, I'm sure Nomura has one of his Nomura-y reasons for her being there.

No, there was some what no reason. They never mentinoned anything about her in the second game, so why just stick her in there?

completely yes and no she held reason because with out her half of the memories of sora would still be missing and he still would be asleep (and roxas would be kicking A$$) and no because she just faded from exstance

well of course there is! namina didnt put all the memory in roxas so she created another nobody to hold the memory for sora. but one point is that why didnt she put all memory in roxas? was half of it lost or anything...

yah there is because the creators wanted something new, all of us kh fans know all about the whole story so they added Xion for roxas to have a friend other the axel

Xion was made to keep Sora's memories inside of her to prevent Sora from waking. This worked really well for Organization XIII because since Xion was absorbing SORA'S memories this meant she could also wield the keyblade.

So Xion and Roxas had to work extra hard collecting hearts for Kingdom Hearts while Xion still existed, because that would mean that they didn't have to worry about Sora stopping them.
