Why does kairi have a nobody? And why doesnt riku have one?

well i dont kno y riku has one but kairi,In the first Kingdom Hearts, Kairi's heart was extracted from her body and was placed inside Sora's being, so sora had to stab himself with riku's keyblade to release her heart, and at that moment roxas and namine were born. :D

Here is the REAL answer: Kairi's nobody IS Naminé. As you all know, Kairi is not supposed to have a nobody since she never turned into a heartless(because her heart is pure light). But, when Sora sacrificed himself he had 3 hearts inside of him:Ventus's heart, Kairi's heart and his own heart. Since he turned into a heartless (and the 2 other hearts we're inside him) 2 nobodies we're created: Roxas(Sora's nobody) and Naminé(Kairi's nobody). As for Ventus's nobody, he wasn't created because Ventus's heart went inside Roxas. That's why Naminé shares a special connexion with Sora while she's Kairi's nobody, it is because she was born from both Kairi and Sora. As for Riku, he never turned into a heartless. He never lost his heart, he just got possessed by Ansem(Seeker of Darkness). Here is the most complicated answer ever!

I know this is old but I feel like no one ever gave a straight answer.

Kairi has a nobody because she lost her heart during the heartless attack on Destiny Islands at the beginning of KH1. It found its way to Sora's heart and kinda got stuck in a way, and so at near the end of KH1, he stabs his own heart so Kairi's can go free with it.

Because it was technically like Kairi lost her heart again (just in a different body), Namine ended up gaining special powers that pertained to the body she was lost in -- Sora's. That's why she can control his memories and the ones of people he's friends with. In a way, she is almost like Kairi and Sora's weird spirit child. And because Sora lost his own heart in the process, Roxas was born at the exact same time as Namine.

Riku never actually "lost" his heart. It basically just absorbed a lot of darkness. I believe the best way to describe it would be to use Vanitas. Vanitas has a heart (mostly), even though it's purely dark and evil. He's solid proof that darkness coming into a heart doesn't make you lose it. Of the Islands trio, Riku is the only one who hasn't lost his heart in any form.

This is a common misunderstanding. For one thing, Namine is NOT Kairi's Nobody, she is just a witch. Also, Riku turned to the darkside, and was used as a kind of a "host" body for Xehanort's heartless to use. Riku lived on, and did not lose his actual heart; i think it was just buried in the darkness.

Because Kairi lost her heart and Riku didn't.

Well in Kingdom Hearts 1 Kiari lost her heart. Since she's a princess her heart is pure light meaning she can't become a heartless. Did you notice? When Kiari didn't have a heart she was just an empty shell. So...since her heart is in sora, he stabbed himself thus creating namine. Namine is made from Sora's body and soul, that's why she doen't really resemble Kiari, (all the other Organization 13 members look very very similar to their somebody, exept roxas). And from sora, Namine gain the special ability to control his memories.

Um, I don't know if somebody has brought this up or not but, I'm pretty sure Riku didn't actually become a heartless, he became one with Ansem/Xehanort/whoever/whatever for power. Terra's nobody is... ergh. Well, I won't say it but, it isn't Riku. Riku's story is just similar to Terra's, making Riku more of someone Terra could relate to, not an actual part of him. In fact, it's hinted that Terra sees a bit of himself in Riku, well, baby Riku at least, and that Riku's future could have been identical to Terra's. Which may have been what was supposed to happen to Riku but, since his relationship with the Heart, his future changed.

what happened is that terra did the keyblade initiation ceremony on riku, but since riku went to the darkness, sora got the keyblade. Aqua accidentally used the keyblade initiation ceremony on kairi by accident, which is why in kh2 kairi wields destiny's embrace. In the end of khbbs after the credits, ventus's heart goes to live with sora's which is why roxas looks like ventus, so it was just a mistake. Riku did not lose his heart! Xehanort took over Terra's body and terra became his armor, later aqua defeated terra-xehanort and xehanort turned into a dark hole. somehow I think ventus took over roxas' body which would be why axel says "somehow roxas always made me feel like I had a heart". Xion was born from the memories of kairi from sora's brain which would explain why Xion drained roxas' power.

From what I understand Kairi didn't get a nobody because her heart left her body, she got a nobody because Sora became a heartless from extracting her heart from his body along with his own.

I've done some reasearch and it seems like it's not the loss of the heart that makes a nobody, it's the action of turning into a heartless itself.

Thus why Riku doesn't have one and Sora and Kairi do.

Because Riku in number 2 isn't seen in a daily basis and Riku was also with the king at the moment they closed the Doors of Kingdom Hearts 1 as seen at the end as a cut scene

Recall: In Kingdom Hearts 1, Kairi lost her heart near the beginning. Also, Riku never lost his in the first place, he embraced the darkness, but never fully gave into it (if he did, then he never would have cared for Kairi or Sora.) Sora unlocked his heart and returned the 7 princesses including Kairi's hearts. That's why Kairi has Namine, and Sora has Roxas

First of all, Kairi did become a heartless in the first game. She was one of the 7 princess and malificient person took away her heart. Then sora gave away his heart to kairi or kairi's heart went into sora's and sora gave it back and that kind of shit. But what i am saying is, kairi became a heartless in the first game. Period.

For your second question, Riku's heart was consumed by darkness and all, but to become a heartless and to gain a no body, you would have to have your entire body be some what like demolished and turned into a heartless. For Riku, he was only possesed by the darkness through his heart and the darkness controlled his body and blah blah blah shit stuff. so Yeah, the end. :)

Mainly since Kairi lost her heart during the first Kingdom Hearts game. And was true that Riku was surrendered to the darkness, but he never officially became a Heartless, Ansem, The Seeker of Darkness however did stole Riku's body. So he wasn't officially a Heartless.

Well, its said that naminae was connected to kairi as roxas is connected sora and then it all falls back to kingdom hearts birth by sleep then 1.5 remix and then 2.5 remix if you want the answer beat all of the story's in kingdom hearts birth by sleep final mix then it should all come together because if you say kairi dosent have a nobody, well then there your wrong. because in kingdom hearts 365/2 days there is a nobody who is a girl and who looks exactly like kairi in kingdom hearts 1 but she has different colored hair and so if you want the real answer beat all of the games in order then youll find that it makes sense because riku dosent have a heartless because his heart was never "stolen" it was taken over by ansems nobody, which his original person was xhehinort. and kairi dosent have nobody because she was a princess of light her heart was purest of light so that means she can only be saved by a hero. so you will find that aqua put a spell of kairi in kingdom hearts (bbs) also known as birth by sleep so that kairi will have a protector.
