Anime VS Cartoons: Difference an Comparison

Japanese style anime is different from regular cartoons. While both are caricatures that may be animated, anime usually has visually distinct features for characters, and a more "limited animation" style for depicting movement.

Differences in Visual Characteristics

Anime illustrations are known to be exaggerated as far as physical features are concerned. Usually, one can differentiate an anime by observing the physical traits of the characters which would include "large eyes, big hair and elongated limbs", and "dramatically shaped speech bubbles, speed...

Anime

Find the biggest bowl you own and inside of it, place one protagonist with powerful and unique abilities. Next, pour in an exceptionally talented team of supportive friends. Then, add a seemingly impervious villain who aims to remake the world according to his own warped ideals. Throw in a few dashes of strong themes like family, friendship, fear, and death, blend it all together with plenty of beautiful visuals and flawless voice acting.

Anime has been around and popular for so long, its influence now stretches far outside the confines of the tiny island country in the Pacific from which...

1.
Find your anime festival/ anime con that you would want to go. A smart thing to do is to find the closest or the easiest ways you can go to an anime festival. You could always ask a friend that would want to come if you desire( its twice as fun!) but it is optional.

2.
Visit the Anime Festival site. If you already have paid for the tickets or waiting for the front door, skip to step 3, if not, continue reading this step. After you have found which anime con/festival, its the best you visit the site first if they have one, so you can always find out all the info you will need,( How much tickets...

Method One: An Anime School Girl

1.
Make an outline of the anime girl using stick figures and shapes. First, sketch a circle for the head. Add an angled shape on the lower part of the circle for the chin and jaw. Use a short line for the neck. Connect a curved line from the neck down to where the pelvis would be located. Draw a four-pointed shape for the thorax and attach more lines for the limbs. Use a triangle as guide for the hands.

2.
Using the stick figure as guide, add shape to the drawing. Take note of the proportions and where joints are located. Add a crossed line to the face and thorax...

~What is Anime exactly?~

The word anime -- pronounced "ah-knee-may" -- is an abbreviation of the word animation. In Japan, the word's used to refer to all animation. Outside of Japan, it's become the catch-all term for animation from Japan.
For decades, anime was produced by and for Japan -- a local product, with a distinct look-and-feel to not just the artwork but the storytelling, the themes, and the concepts. Over the last forty years, though, it's become an international phenomenon, attracting millions of fans and being translated into many languages. A whole generation of viewers in the...

~How to become an Ultimate Anime Fan~

.:. Steps.:.

1)
Decide which kind of anime you want to watch based on general type, demographic or themes.

2)
Start by researching. If you don't have a favorite anime series or movie, find out what that is first and then surf the web for fan-sites so you can learn more about it and find out about similar anime. Go a little further in your research than just the plot or characters. If it's a historical anime, research the period in history. Find out what style it's in as well (Wikipedia has a good article which breaks down the different anime genres).

3)
Consider...

The Japanese culture has its own unique forms of comic books and animation. Manga (comic books) and anime (animation) are extremely popular in Japan. The earliest animation that is known to have been created in Japan was released in 1917. This early cartoon featured a samurai testing a sword and being defeated. Japanese animation pioneers included Seitarō Kitayama, Jun'ichi Kouchi, and Shimokawa Oten. The modern style of anime was developed during the 1960s. One of the most influential artists is Osamu Tezuka. He followed the example set by Walt Disney's popular animated films and simplified...

Steps

1.
Pick and watch some anime of your interest. Anime is not itself a genre; it has many, many genres that any person could appreciate. It's easier to start with some giant titles (Death Note, Naruto, Bleach, Hetalia, etc.), then once you know what you like, you can get further into it.

2.
Watch the anime! Most otaku look down on dubbed language watchers, and sometimes anime is better in the original Japanese (with subtitles), but if it's something you enjoy, you shouldn't let others' opinions rule you. (Especially if you're getting into anime!)

3.

Kid: Dad, how did you meet mom?

Natsu : I heard that ‘Salamander’ was in Harageon and went there to see him. But it turned out that it was some fake idiot. Unfortunately, your mother was affected by his ‘Charm’ spell and almost fell for him until I interrupted and yelled out “Igneel”. Then some crazy chicks beat the shit out of me. But my interruption managed to disrupt the charm and allowed your mother to return to her senses. She thanked me and we had lunch together. Later I saved her from the same guy again and destroyed the whole port. We started to run from the army and I invited...

Classifying anime into genres can be tricky by itself, but coming up with a set list of all the possible anime genres is even more difficult. So today I’m going to make an attempt at examining the odds and ends of anime genres…

At some point, whenever I watch a new series, I think, “What genre would I place this anime in?” or “If I were to recommend this anime to someone, especially someone unfamiliar with anime, what genres would I say it consists of?” I’ve done this many times, and I was especially focused on anime genres when I was working on my “What is Anime? – the Visual...

Lovely Complex ~ The Complete Series
Lovely Complex ~ The Complete Series
Synopsis

Risa and Otani have height problems. Risa is mega-tall and Otani is mega-short and both of them hate it. A particularly perceptive and sarcastic teacher has labeled them “All Hanshin Kyojin,” after a popular comic act with a distinctive height gap. The two fight constantly and frequently hilariously, which doesn't help. In their own way they're good friends though, and they have weirdly compatible tastes, so their friends are always urging them to get together. But that seems unlikely. There's the height difference of course, but also they just don't see each other that way. Until,...

1.
Figure out what genre you're into. As with books and movies, anime has genres. Are you a fantasy person, a horror, romantic, comedy, action? First figure out what you like most to help ease yourself into the artform.

2.
Look online for classic anime of the genre. While you can find anime online [we'll talk about that later] it is good to research what anime you're interested in since anime can be costly.

3.
The art style. A particular anime might be your genre, the art style might turn you off. 80's Anime looks different from newer Anime thanks to unique and changing styles. As well, some...

1.
Master the shapes. Anime and manga are drawn in a stylized manner. Heads are round with large, round eyes, usually low on the face. Chins are triangular. Lines for things like eyebrows and mouths are usually simple.

2.
Pay attention to the shading. Anime is typically shaded boldly but simply. Look at where highlights and shadows fall and how it gives a feeling of depth to the characters. Eyes are an especially important detail, but hair, faces, and costumes usually have at least some shading, too.

3.
Use colors. Anime characters often have bold colors, whether on their costumes or their...

Method One: A Large Eye

1.
Sketch a long curve. Then draw another shorter curve opposite the first. Add slightly curved lines down from each end. This is the basic eye. The top curve is typically thicker than the bottom. Notice the mini-line at the end of the top eyelid. This is a characteristic of the anime style.

2.
Make a large white circle pointing in the direction your character is facing. Add another small circle on the bottom corner. Typically, the top shine is larger than the bottom one. You can add more white spots if you like.

Anime VS Manga: Similarities and Difference

Starting off, a simple explanation is in order for this report. Manga is Japanese for comic, and anime is Japanese for animation. Both, when used outside of Japan, refer directly to Japanese animation and art. Often manga and anime are so closely related that they will have the same series in both versions. Fushigi Yuugi, for example, is a manga and an anime. They are almost interchangeable in some cases. If someone made mention of Pet shop of Horrors, or even described part of the story line it wouldn't matter whether they meant the manga version...
